ok so our wedding night, we have the choice of staying

http://www.ventanainn.com/ $400 a night, they WILL steam my dress on Sat., and they have an excellent spa that my mom and i could go to on Sat morning, and breakfast that fiance and I could have on Sunday morning.

http://www.glenoaksbigsur.com/ about $200 a night, they will NOT steam my dress, no spa, no food.

The thing is-I imagine that we will wrap up the wedding around 10 (this would be the VERY latest if people linger and drink and dance). We are starting at 4:30, dinner around 6, not having dancing (we have a jazz band).

What do you think? Is Ventana worth it??

If you think you will make use of the amenities at the first hotel...I say go for it.

If you want to save a bit...think of it this way.

$200-for someone to steam your dress (that may not need it)
-breakfast (surely they have room service and you won''t starve?)
-Spa, find one nearby? (You will still be paying additional for the
services anyway)

My friends just stayed at Ventana for their honeymoon and LOVED it. I think for your wedding it would be totally worth it to feel pampered and special!!

my vote is for the ventana, its your wedding and when else can you stay at a fancy schmance hotel?

splurge!!!!!

I''d go for the Ventana as well.

I''d say ventana too! why not splurge! you only get to be a bride once.

also, maybe you could do your getting ready there...sounds like it might be a good place for the getting ready photos...not sure what your plans are though.

I would splurge on a fancy hotel for your wedding night, you only get that night once so you may as well make the most of it.

awesome!!! thanks!! if fiance ever gets home from work then we will discuss!

rockoflove: what a great honeymoon spot!!! ive never stayed at ventana, but i have spent some time at the spa....it was pretty great! my fiance and i visited big sur last year and booked massage treatments (we were staying on my uncle''s property so we didn''t need a room). well it just so happened that it was raining the day we had our treatments so we couldn''t use the sunbathing deck, the pool, the saunas. the next day was sunny, so we parked at the bottom of the hill and hiked up to the pool. we walked in like true guests
