Seller: Stone is too clean and the lab can’t check (don’t know what he meant). He offers me an alternate stone that he claims is similar (although it is actually smaller by .1 ct), He sends a certificate and offers a discount on future stone.
Me: Asked for clarification if he is telling me that the original stone is not natural.
Seller: Claims that the original stone is a natural sapphire. Explains that he needs to go to a more expensive lab to get it certified because the stone is too clean (doesn’t make any sense). He recommends that I just take the other stone he recommended. He goes on to tell me that he purchased a lot of 5 sapphires. He already sold one and I purchased another one from the lot. He said the other 3 remaining stones can get the low cost certification but mine can not. He offers to send me the 3 stones and I can pick the one I like and then return the others.
Me: Ask for clarification why my stone will cost more to certify than the other stones.
Seller: Claims that the other stones can be certified with a smaller lab because it is below 0.8 ct. He said they are used for smaller or cheaper stones. The one I won is just over 0.8 ct and the lab does not have “big machine and costly chemical” to check. He claims that he usually uses a bigger lab (AIGS) to certify more costly stones.
Me: I told him that I want the original stone. If he doesn’t want to pay for the certification, I am fine with that and will have it appraised myself. I ask for a full refund including shipping if it turns out not to be a natural sapphire.
Seller: He offers to certify the stone and that we split the cost. If the stone turns out to be fake, he will pay for the whole certification process.
Me: I confirm that he feels the stone is real and that I rather have it appraised here instead of paying him to get it certified. I again ask for the refund policy to be honored.
Seller: Mentions that he has a small confusion with the stone (assuming he thinks it could be fake). He offers to refund my money and send me the other stone free of charge. He asked that if I am satisfied to purchase more from him in the future.
