wife really wants a blue ring topaz/aquamarine but seems that the later is fairy expensive so opting for topaz. Tiffanys has a wonderful 10 carat topaz ring in a platinum setting for 1.9k. I’m looking to replicate this but only with 4-6 carats instead of 10. Any recommendations on where to look for something similar?

Explain what you want and ask for quotes from all of them. Other than that places like Ebay and Etsy have cheaper Asian cut largish topaz and sometimes Aquamarines too for less $$$$$s, sometimes Etsy in particular has newer or younger cutters selling precision cut stones for great prices on there, but if you want something that is a really beautiful cut try the 3 on the above list. I believe Jeff has been making jewellery as well out of Thailand as well as having his own cutters too..

These are mine: setting for the natural colored topaz made by David Klass and for the electric blue made by Victor Canera.

I second the recommendation of Doug from Bespoke Gems - I have a stunning natural blue Topaz from him and get compliments on it frequently!

Blue topaz can be a very attractive stone, and it's also a very inexpensive stone. The darker (tone) and purer the color (saturated) the more expensive. Expect to pay anywhere for $8 to $30 per ct for the stone. Often you see large stones for even less. There is no premium of unheated material, actually the unheated is very light, and should be sold for less than the better color heated stones.
Similar color Aquamarine will cost you $300 to $600 per ct, so it's a big difference.

Why is Topaz so inexpensive? Is there just an abundant supply, or is it because it's always assumed that it's treated?

I'd be after that big natural colored Topaz from Bespoke Gems if I were you.

Topaz is inexpensive as there is an abundant amount of rough found. Treated material is actually more expensive than untreated, as there is the cost of treatment involved. In the rough, the priced is based completely on the color, with the deeper colors more expensive.

Pretty much the only stones where non treated stones cost more than treated, all other things being equal is in sapphire, ruby and emerald. For everything else, the color and clarity dictate the price.

I’m back. Doug has a great looking 3 carat I’m thinking of getting, but have no idea where to go to have a ring made?

Also what will this run me and design inspiration for a round cut topaz?

That’s great!

Could you post the Tiffany inspiration ring you have seen? The people here can then help you with possible jewellers. Also: what is your budget?

Here is some general inspiraton for topaz rings: https://www.pricescope.com/communit...-and-blue-electric-blue-topaz-stories.215679/

Doug could send the stone to Alistair Kelsey who is also in Australia. Not sure if it’s the style you are looking for. Both Doug and Alistair are used to international clients, so Doug can send the ring to any jeweller you want to work with. Here is a thread with Alistair’s work: https://www.pricescope.com/community/threads/the-alistair-kelsey-collection.218921/

A lot of PSers work with David Klass in LA who can make any style you like.

You could ask a quote from David Klass (LA) and Alistair Kelsey (Australia) in 14K white gold, 18K white gold and platinum
