Hey everyone! One of my best friends, let''s call her "Lucky," is defending her PhD in May and wants me to help her find a ring to symbolize this accomplishment. Her total budget is $1000, but she wants to spend less on the ring because her plan is to donate any remaining money to charity! So if the ring costs $500, she will donate $500 to charity. That way whenever she looks at her ring she will be reminded of her academic accomplishment and her charitable donation. She plans to give the money to a charity that helps girls in Africa get an education! She''s the sweetest.

She hates shopping, and since I am obsessed with rings, she asked me/I begged her to let me help her find something that she can purchase online. Here is her wishlist for her right-hand PhD ring:

Cost less than $500 (remember, the less we spend the more goes to charity!)
yelow gold or pink gold
no diamonds
light pink gemstones (very light pink, like morganite, or a very light color sapphire)

Other than that it is open season!

Thanks for your help!!

I really like this one from facets ($498), but I wondered if anyone else knew of a less expensive option or a more fun option?

I love this one from M. Khourdipour, but it is $550 and she thinks the stones are too dark.

Hi Dreamer!

How sweet is your friend? I love pink bands, I have one myself (pink sapphire stacking ring). Anyway, how about this ring from Pearlmans? Here is the link: http://www.pearlmansjewelers.com/jewelry-designers/spark-jewelry/rings/06MM1/6/

Its a good price, and the Spark line has a good rep. Plus, Pearlmans is so great to work with!

Good luck!!!!

OK - here goes! I''m not one to underspend the budget, but it IS for charity!!! Take a look at the diamond scatter band "EmpTorres" posted recently. She bought it at smartbargains.com for $250!!!!! Your friend could buy the yellow and white gold and stack them - they would never go out of style and she could wear it 24/7 - she could even engrave her graduation date inside - or buy one and donate even more! I also saw a stunning 2.92 carat garnet in YG for $279 - you have to weed through the stuff (it''s not all my taste). None pink, I know, but maybe an alternative. Good luck!

Wowthanks everyone! Those are great options...

Dani: those are gorgeous and I have heard Pearlman's is great. Do you happen to know how wide those little guys are?

motownmama: I'll look into that, but I am a little concerned to go through a company I'm not familiar with, I'll have to look up what their return policy is... but good find!

Cravin': The first is probably too expensive for her, but the second one is awesome! Do you know anything about that company and their reputation at all?? ETA: just checked they have a 30 day refund policy minus shipping so I guess no worries!

Too bad WF doesn''t have a Dreams of Africa ring (well, one that is under 3k) - could she maybe throw in a pendant? :)

Elmorton ooooohh nice. I think she really wants a ring, but that is a purdy necklace. Thanks for looking!

Dreamer-

I think the info on the Pearlmans website says that the ring is 1.5 mm''s...
