I'm new to colored stones and don't know all that much about them, except what I learned getting my GIA AJP. I've read the threads for beginners, but thought I could ask for advice and ideas from PSers!

I'm looking to buy Citrine jewelry for a best friend's birthday. I was thinking a pair of fabulous earrings would be great, however also open to necklaces and bracelets. My friend's style is very classic and stylish (e.g. Cartier and David Yurman). My budget is $300 and would want a 14K setting.

Does anyone have recommendations? Does anyone have experience with gemstone jewelry from Costco? Is $300 too much to spend on a friend's birthday? I don't want her to feel uncomfortable, but want her to enjoy the gift.

What do you think of these earrings?

 
I would go with a slightly plainer earring...the diamonds may be too much. Citrine is beautiful and inexpensive. You should be able to find good quality with a $300 budget. Look for either a deep golden colour or a Madiera colour.

I would take a look at Etsy because yes it’s not an expensive stone so you should be able to find something nice easily within your budget. I don’t have any specific vendors but I did take a quick look and I like this pair if your friend enjoys classic studs.

Etsy would be my first port of call. Citrine is very inexpensive and you should be able to pick up something well within your budget.
 
I feel overwhelmed by the selection on Etsy, mostly because I don't know which vendors I can trust.
 
Danielmjewelry on Etsy has a lovely pair of citrine earrings I've long admired. I don't know if these are a good value for the price but the workmanship looks especially nice.

I’ve bought nice citrine jewelry from KyklosJewelry on Etsy. The workmanship is nice and the packaging is really pretty. I also second DanielM.
