Help me find (or tell me how to search for) a diamond with Very Strong Fluorescence

Does anyone know where I can find a diamond with Very Strong Blue fluorescence? The websites I've searched only go up to Strong, not Very Strong.

I want a (more or less) 5mm diameter round diamond with VSB fluorescence that makes it go lavender in sunlight. I want the fluorescence to be visible to the naked eye in strong sunlight.

I'd like it to be beautifully cut--it could be a modern round brilliant, an OEC, or a transition, I don't care which, as long as it's lovely and fiery.

It needs to be a high color so the lavender will show--D, E, or maybe F. As far as clarity goes, I don't mind going down as far as I1, as long as the inclusions don't interfere with the sparkle. It doesn't need to be eye clean. I like transparent crystals as inclusions, but am not crazy about feathers. Above VS2 is a waste of money for me.

I'm not even sure I'd mind if it became milky or oily in sunlight, as long as it turned a pretty lavender as well and was sparkly in other lighting. I love gemstones that DO things--stones that exhibit phenomena. But I've never seen a milky or oily diamond, so maybe I wouldn't like it.

Can anyone help me find such a stone?

Many thanks, diamond friends!

I'd recommend to reach out to Alex Webber on instagram (premiergemstones). He loves fluorescent stones and has had some really awesome ones that almost looked like LuAG because they were so brightly fluorescent

You can search for Fluorescence on Blue Nile -- you just have hit "MORE FILTERS" at the bottom of that large blue Diamond Finder box and then you can select "very strong fluorescence"

If this link works, it should take you to a BN search for 0.49-0.52ct D/E/F round diamond, Ideal/Aster, with VSF -- there's 60 of them -- I didn't put any limits on clarity, table, depth ...

Many thanks, Mary! The link didn't have the search filled in, but it's easy enough for me to fill it in myself.

Thanks for the lead, Anthony!

Did you ask him to search for you, or did you find it on his insta feed?

I found it on his IG feed by setting alerts. But I also asked him if he was getting more (or if he could look for one) and he said to turn on alerts because he was getting a few in the next few weeks (from when I asked)

also endorse suggestion to check with Alex Webber / Premier Gems -- I've bought several diamonds from him, including oval with SBF -- great vendor, great customer service

What you're looking for is called an 'overblue' in the trade. It's way less than all VSB's so you can't just search for grading reports. Internet customers worry about them so much that I bought a sample to show what they look like. It took me years to find one. Talk to a dealer who has actual stones, not just virtual inventory and who finds it an interesting search.

Agreed. The VSB I bought from Alex is what most folks would call overblue, but I wish it was more obvious. I think it's *too* clean and/or only barely made "very strong" fluor

Sigh. I see this is going to be a hard quest! Besides Alex Webber, does anyone have suggestions for dealers who might be able to find me an overblue and would find the search fun? Diamonds by Lauren, maybe? Anybody else? (Are trade members allowed to respond to a request like this here?)

DBL is another good option.

A dealer with actual stones???
Do they even exist anymore???
I'm having memory flashes...the "old days" before "Internet warming" caused a massive die off of actual diamond dealers..........
Seriously- the biz has changed so much over the past 15 years in particular...there's been a huge diminution of guys ( or gals) walking around with full diamond wallets stuffed into their vest pockets.
A shame, but this is our modern world!!

Oh, I see I missed a response from David last month. @Rockdiamond, I can't tell if you meant that you can't help me because you no longer have enough diamonds in hand, or if you meant you're one of the only dealers left who does.

Anyway, I'm back with photos of a bitty overblue (.295 ct; 4.3 mm diameter) that I bought a couple of decades ago, which is what gave me the idea to look for a bigger one. I had no idea they were so rare! I believe I picked this one out of a Dirt Cheap Diamonds (now James Allen) search; my criteria were excellent HCA, high color, I1 based on transparent crystal(s) rather than feathers or black spots, and VSB fluorescence. I guess I hit the jackpot.

This one is an F I1. It gets an AGS cut grade of "Good," but an HCA of 1.2, "Excellent--within BIC range."

I never got around to setting this stone; here it is sitting in an empty setting next to a .290 ct J I1 that also has some blue fluorescence (not sure how much).

It's small enough that I don't really see the blue unless I hold it close to my nose. I would love to find an overblue that's big enough to actually see easily!

And here it is in the shade, looking white rather than lavender blue:

If you have an idea of how you would like to set it, you could contact the designer-vendor. If you are committing to purchasing a setting from them then they will probably help you find a stone.

Brian Gavin has a Blue line where all the stones have blue fluor, but idk if they go up to what would be an over blue. I want to say I’ve seen them strong, but not sure about very strong. At any rate, it would be worth a look!

He was being historical.
He is the king of odd diamonds so there is a good chance he has the contacts to get what your seeking.
As a disclaimer I worked for him for a short time but no longer do so and have no financial interest in any sales.

Agree, David Rockdiamond is your man.
He is in the middle of 47th street and also has loads of UV coming in his office window.
As Neil mentioned, it is rare to get one strong enough to actually light up pale blue strong enough to see the blue in direct sunlight, and even in the photo below a fair bit of the blue was the sky in San Diego where I took these photos (in and outside).
#Dave Atlas owns and wear this one every day:

Ritani's filters also include VSB. Good luck, I also would love an overblue to play with and enjoy! :D
