I know this sounds ridiculous, but I have made so many decisions and changes to my wedding lately I am totally stumped on the date.

A little background: My FI and I have been together forever

well, actually about 9 years. We want a DW in Hawaii. FBIL is having a DW this May, so we have had to push our wedding back to April/May 2009 so FI''s fam can make it to another DW. Initial date was December 30, 2008. I really loved that date, for no reason it just sounded good to me.

The problem is none of these possible dates jump out at me and it''s such a huge decision (for me) because it will be the day that we celebrate our union for the rest of our lives!!! The pressure!

Please Vote on My Wedding Date

April 29, 2009

April 30, 2009

May 1, 2009

May 2, 2009

May 3, 2009

We know that we want it on one of these days, the actual day of the week doesn''t matter to us (29th is a Wed). Maybe it will grow on me after I choose it? I don''t know. Any opinions?

I''m partial to may 2 or 3 because those are family birthdays.

Why don''t you try this? http://www.history.com/this-day-in-history.do

Put in the date (in the upper right part of the page), pick a category, and get a story! Pick whatever is most interesting or meaningful. Or whichever one doesn''t have some awful event associated with it.

At the end of the day, your anniversary will be special because it is YOUR ANNIVERSARY. It won''t matter what day it is. And you never know what will happen on that day later. I was born on my parent''s anniversary. But it would''ve been special even if I hadn''t been, and it would have continued to be special for them even if it later had some horrible event associated with it, because it is their day.

Good luck -- just pick one (maybe whichever one will be easiest for your guests, if any, to attend?) and make it your own. Start writing it down a few times (by hand, with some dooles or something, not on the computer!!) with your two names. Maybe it will sink in and start to "feel" right.

Thank you enbcfsobe! I always wanted to choose a date that had no horrible historical significance, that website looks really helpful. Thanks a bunch!

I'll go check it out. Any other preferences?

That was funny, in a morbid way

So now the question is, which is the least horrible event?

April 29- LA riots erupt when police officers beat unarmed african-american motorist (shudder, I still remember that day...it was very sad)

April 30- the day Hitler commits suicide

May 1-nothing too crazy, a couple of battles begin

May 2-this one''s my fave! Loch ness monster sighted!!!!!

May 3-nothing major

I''m partial to Nessie. You can also change the category by using the drop-down menu under the date field. If FI is into sports, you could check out that category. Or you could pick something else that interests one or both of you...

you can tell i''m having a thrilling evening! i''m glad to help, though.

haha definitely May 2 - lochness monster!!!

I think may is a lovely month and so any of those is my vote. Is the day Hitler commited suicide such a bad thing?
I know the feeling, all the major IRA massacres happened on my birthday. Of course, my great grandpa was a gun runner for the IRA so he might think that was a good thing.
If you want something really detailed on the date, look it up in Wikipedia, they have quite a bit for each day.
Just remember, it could be worse, my parents got married on tax day.

Yes, I was just writing May 2, 2009 out under our names and it looks perfect! Plus, then we have a funny story to tell our future kids! 'Mommy and Daddy got married on the day the loch ness monster was sighted'! Or that might just scare them

Thanks for your help Future and enfbcsobe!

I never even thought to look up my birthday, brazen!!!! Here I go...it was only 2 days ago....

Good point about Hitler. We should celebrate that day!

ETA: My B-day was Prohibition day!!!! Woohoo. Ahh, I think I have found my new obsession, after PS of course. Hehe this is FUN!

Does any date work best for your guests/family?

I don't think it really matters, they would all take a week off work/school anyway. On the other hand, I guess the weekend is better just in case they can't. Good point New England Lady!

I guess May 2 takes the lead?!

I''m partial to May 2nd for Nessie because I got engaged at Loch Ness! Sounds like a good day to me. :)

May 2nd just popped out at me so that''s my vote.

I saw Lochness monster sighting and knew that this had to be your day!

That would be such a cute/funny story ... especially given what you have to choose from.

I definitely like May 2nd, but I was pulling for May 1st because it sounds like the beginning of something, and it is May Day. It''s also International Labor Day though, so that might distract you depending on where you live.

I didn''t really get to pick my date, it was just what was available at the time, but later I discovered I liked it because my birthday is 06/10 and our wedding was 10/06. That totally DIDN''T occur to me until about 2 months into planning! Lucky break.

I''d pick Aprl 30, 2009 (which if it was a fri, sat or sun would be my wedding day). Only because that''s my parents anniversary and they are still happily married after 30+ years, so I''d hope the good Karma would continue

That''s so sweet, mjso! Thank you.

May 2, 2009 is on a Saturday....

If you were a guest to a DW (of immediate family) would you have a preference for day of the week? For reference, most of our family live in Canada. I mean, if you were going to Hawaii would you try to do it in a long weekend (4 days)? I''ve never traveled but I think if I were going somewhere nice I would want to stay at least a week... any experienced DW goers or travelers with suggestions????

I would check the date with some of those coming.

If it were me, I would prefer a mid-week wedding so I could just take a week off rather than a long weekend.

LOL, re the dates,

My ex-boss and I had a pact never to tell any of our clients when our birthdays were:

Mine - 6th August - Hiroshima
His - 11th September - 9/11

Just to stay on all the facts here: on April 30, we celebrate Queensday heren in the Netherlands because it''s the birthday of our late queen.

Is that erasing the Hitler suicide memory a little bit?
