Hello PSer's!

I've introduced myself in my other posts and I am just a collector who comes here to read, learn, comment and to share with all you wonderful people my collection of gemstones.

You can see my Sapphire the Blue Dream here. If you haven't seen it yet.

I have a very special Ruby.I really want to give it a name but I am having a really hard time with it lol.

I would appreciate some name suggestions and also any man's ring ideas. Thanks!!

I am kind of weird , since I name my stones but that's just how I roll. :twirl: I am sure I am not the only one here who does that!

Why "Big Red" of course!! :appl:

Hi,

The MAC GREGER PEAR, from the Mac Greger estate going back to 1533.

Annette (have fun) Estate in Scotland sounded good.

Aung San Suu Kyi, after the beautiful conscious of Myanmar.

ruby dreaming in red
ruby fantasy
ruby transcending red

The Crimson Prince

Or

Crimson Dew (a pear is like a drop of water)

Aloha Epgs,

I think you should call the stone "Saxon". I thought it would fit since your stone is pigeon blood red and the Saxon Field Pigeon comes in a red variety. Attached is a picture of the Red Saxon pigeon.

Great stone too!

Cheers, Tim in Hawaii

It is very hard to name something very special to me. Its going to be a part of my family for a long long time.

The big red is sounds great but to me at 1.64 is not very big and doesn't look very big either. lol

Aung San Suu Kyi, would be way to political. I like that though perhaps a museum quality burmese stone should have that name. lol

Thanks chieft, movie and everyone else for there input so far!

So Far I am liking the sound of the Crimson Prince! its a cool way to say "red" and resemble "royalty" :lickout:

I would love to hear more name ideas!

Judy Garland "There's no place like home"
Very beautiful btw

The Blood Prince. George RR Martin (husband's nerdiness is rubbing off). The Crimson Tear. Blood rain. Red Rain. Bloodpool like Deadpool from the comics). Ummm...

I name my gems too, so this is totally normal for me.

Dorothy.

............ because of Dorothy's sparkly red shoes (ruby slippers) in the Wizard of Oz .....and with a bit of a stretch of imagination, the soles of heeled shoes have a pear shape.

Because you love it, and it is drop shaped "heart's blood"
or perhaps Kokoro Hime
Kokoro in Japanese means "heart" but is reall means the core of the matter, what is essential, feelings (sort of), Hime can be translated as "princess" but it really connotes beauty and nobility of character.

Scarlet witch? (Lesser known marvel comic heroine)

Crimson Pirate? (fun pirate movie with Burt Lancaster)

Red Star?

Phoenix Tear?

What a fun idea and lovely, lovely stone.

Hi,

I'm going to try again. Your ruby is beautiful. Tell us where you got it.

The Red Swan----- Because swans are so beautiful

Scarlett

Use your own family name---

I'd be honored if you called it the Annette

Annette

In the book, Dorothy wears silver shoes. There is some thought that The Wonderful Wizard of Oz is a political allegory...
Crimson tear perhaps?

So impressed that you name your stones. I wish I had thought of that a loooooong time ago, cuz now I wouldn't know where to start!

Hmm. The only thing that comes to mind is that if its a commanding color, then it should be one word, like "Saxon," "Boss," or "Red." Somehow, two words takes away from its Supreme power...

such a beautiful stone!

Wow that's pretty :)

I'm a horse dork, so I'd probably name it Man O'War, the original "Big Red" :)

I just knew somebody would be picky about that! :naughty: :appl:

Ok, how about "Summer Beauty" or "Flame"

Or maybe just "Sensation" :lickout:

The Red Menace. :)

Hey, if you're going political, go all the way!

Hi,

Everything sounds better in French. You said you could/nt call it Big Red because it wasn't big, so I suggest you call it Le Petit Rouge--The Small REd. I even made it masculine, but i have no idea if this is correct. You French students please correct if wrong.

I'm not going to sign my name anymore. I like doing this too much.

Scarlotta

I'm paid to be picky. I'm a middle school librarian. That little nugget of information is one way we find out if the students read the book or watched the movie.

Complete threadjack: Kaede, where is the illo in your avatar from? That looks wonderful! I may need a print.

Thor - one word and commanding

I've read all the suggestions and thought long and hard.

I've finally decided to stick with one name word name. One that is descriptive yet powerful and seems to go well with my ruby.

Behold, my newly named, Burma, Pigeons Blood Ruby... Crimson!

Thanks PSers, you will all be forever a part of this Ruby. I will always remember the suggestions and input you have all given me. I will be forever thankful and hopefully be part of this community for years to come.

Hey, don't start our eulogy just yet, lol! We're happy you've joined our ranks and Crimson is perfect. You liked that name from the start, so good on you!

Hurray, glad to have helped. It really is the exact shade of red of your stone, true as true can be.

Any chance we could get you to call it "King Crimson" for those of us of a certain age...
