OK, I have decided to get a new purse since my husband offered me to choose my own Hanukkah gift. So help me choose.

I want to get a coach. I am shocked at how high the prices have gone! Not too long ago, $500 was high for coach. some of the prices are absurd. But I love their leather bags so I shopped the site carefully. At least they are having free shipping right now.

I need one I can wear on my shoulder and be hands free since I have a lot of kids.

What do you all think of the bleeker leather duffle? Classic or dowdy? I am not trendy and like classic styles. I'm not one to get new purses every year so I want something that will last. This one is priced reasonable for coach.

Also, I love the bottle green but worry that will look funky in person. I also like the wine color. I have many black purses and the one I currently carry is tan so I want something different.

here is the link to the bag I'm thinking of. Bottle green or wine? Which would be better?

I also like this one from the classic collection but wonder if its too out of style or if its classic.

and this one too

I also like this Dooney and bourke bag I have never owned a dooney. How does the quality compare to coach? Is dooney considered a good quality and fashionable bag? I like the saddle color bag.

Opinions please!

Hmm, I think shorter strap is a more modern look - like Coach''s Carly and Ergo bags in leather. I also love the shape of this bag by D&B http://www.dooney.com/OA_HTML/ibeCCtpSctDspRte.jsp?section=25354.
It''s a classic and very comfortable shape. D&B''s bags in leather are good quality but I haven''t been impressed with their fabric bags.

The Bleecker style in Wine would be a gorgeous choice. Do you have clothes in your wardrobe that would coordinate nicely?

The two other coaches you you picked out do looked outdated, IMO. The description of the City Bag sums up it's status by stating, "Quintessentially Coach; created in the 80’s. This was one of the most popular choices among our customers." Notice they say "was," not is one of the most popular choices? About 15 years ago I had a Coach almost identical to that one. It may have even been the same one, but I'm not sure. Seems like I paid quite a bit less.

how funny you posted this! I''ve been eyeing that bottle green bleeker bag for a while now. It looks gorgeous. I love the detail in the strap. I want this bag in either bottle green or brown signature.
I actually own the second bag you posted in brown. It is a very functional bag, just not as current as the bleeker.
The wine looks very pretty as well but I guess I''d have to see them in person to decide. You can always search the purse forum website for pics of the wine color. Maybe someone there has posted some.

My first choice would be the Bleecker duffle in Wine then the Dooney purse. I''ve heard they are good quality but I have never owned one.

OK, I''ve crossed the citybag off my list. Come to think of it, I think my mom had that bag when I was in HS in the early 80''s.

I''m leaning towards the bleecker. I like the dooney one as well.

diamondsrock, coach is having free shipping right now! (yes, I''m trying to enable LOL).

OK, lets assume I go with the bleecker, I have 2 winter coats I primarily wear, one is chocolate brown, and the other is black. I tend to wear a lot of black tops, I''m a jeans kinda girl, and I like browns too. I also like to wear jewel tone clothes, have winter tops in reds, purples, blues, lots of black and brown.

With the above info, bottle green or wine? Or another color choice? I always seem to end up with a tan purse or black purse so I''m leaning towards one of the more fun colors that will look good with my wardrobe.

How fun! Thanks for asking for help ...

I like the Bleeker in wine ... Sounds and looks just like what you have described you are looking for ... That color should add a nice "pop" to spice up or accessorize whatever you are wearing ... If you get this, maybe you could then justify the necissity to get a cute little pair of shoes to match ... just for fun?

Another vote for the Bleeker in Wine!

My first choice would be the wine (since it would go with my wardrobe more than the green... would either go with yours?). Nice purse.

My second choice would be the D&B... I think the style is cute.

The other plain, Coach bags don''t really have any interesting detail (imho) like the others.

hands down the bleecker in wine! i thik that color goes with both black and brown really well and the colr is soooo deep and pretty!

Yah ladies, I orderd the bleecker in wine! Thanks for your help.

I'm excited :) I think it will be super with my winter wardrobe.

Yay! Woohoo!

Update- I got the purse and did not like it. It was too big and plain looking in person.

So, I went yesterday to a coach store and returned it and look what I picked out and brought home with me:

It is not what I was looking for at first . Its black and the strap is on the short side. but it is so cute in person! Classic but updated classic. I really love it. It was more than I set out to spend but thankfully my husband liked it too :)

Had to laugh about the City Bag... I carried that in high school! It was my mom''s OLD bag. (Meaning she got it in the 80s, probably right after they made it) I still have it somewhere... It''s Navy and I remember having the clasp replaced in 1995. I was impressed that they would do that for free. I don''t think I''ll break it out again though, now that I know it''s not in style.
