Found this community hugely educational in my search for a sapphire ring for an engagement. I'm glad this site exists.
I'm of course looking for the perfect sapphire within my budget and I realize perfect will be different to everyone.
I'm getting down to my finalists and would appreciate opinions.
I've attached some images under different lighting.
The one on left is heat treated just under 4 carat and around 15K, right is not treated 4 carat and around 17K. Price is in USD.
Looking forward to feedback. Thanks

Do these come with a report? That is a lot of $$, and you want to make sure to buy from a reputable seller who sends stones to be graded to prove that they are heated/unheated, etc.

Here is a significantly better option. More ideal color (see hand pic), has an AGL report, and a better price.

Here is a lighter color option (again, see hand pic), that is bigger.

I just dont love either option you posted (sorry!) And think you can find better for the $$.

Yes, they come with report.

Thanks, I'll take a look at those. And yes I agree it is a lot of $$$.

The left one C.Dunaigre. The right none GIA.

I don't know what C.dunagre is, but GIA is very trustworthy. I think the one on the left is very dark, and the one on the right has a window and a grey hue. I just wouldn't buy either of them bc they seem overpriced and not ideal color

I made an err on the sizes. Left one is 4 carat, right one is 4.5 carat.

Concerning C. dunagre I've read about them on the forum before. I haven't seen their name much elsewhere when shopping around.

Here's a better image of the untreated one. Are you still seeing a grey hue? My eye isn't well trained for that.

Not sure if I'm seeing some grey, or if I just don't like the cut. Hard to tell, but I am not a huge fan of it, especially for the very high price tag. To my eye it's not an ideal color and 17K is just a ton of money to spend on something that isn't perfect. I would personally much prefer a slightly smaller stone (3+ct) that has ideal color and good cut vs something larger without ideal color and which has a noticible window.

This one was cut by Jeff White, and if memory serves me well, it was under 8k USD about 3 to 4 years ago.

He has a vast inventory of roughs and it may be worth reaching out to him to see if he has anything suitable.

Sorry, however I am not keen on the two stones in the first post, too dark for me.

If I had 17k USD to spend, I would ask Jeff to find a suitable rough in this colour to cut into his signature Asscher, examples of his cutting and different colours of Sapphires etc. can be seen in his galleries of sold gemstones.

DK :))

The one on the right is better out of the two, because the color of the heated one is too dark, and honestly, a heated sapphire should be cheaper, by 30%-50%, compared to an untreated sapphire, if all other things are equal. So IMO the heated one is overpriced, and I also prefer the offerings by Finewater Gems more.

I don't see gray in the unheated sapphire, but I do see color zoning. It's more easy to pick out that kind of thing in a larger stone.

Also see if you like the sapphires at Enhoerning Jewelry. If I had $17k to spend, that's where I would go. Inken has a fine eye for color, and excellent customer service.

The one on the right is very nice and so much better than the left, I like the cut too. I do see what "may" be a little zoning but not at all really noticeable to the eye at all. I do agree with @voce though, that contacting Enhoerning could be helpful. Excited for you!
