HELP!!! My washer is ruining my clothes

I know that this has nothing to do with diamonds --- but my i need help!

I just moved into this new apartment and it was a washing machine that loads from the front. I have white bathroom towels so I use bleach ever so often to try to keep them looking bright. Right. So now it has been THREE times, after doing a bleach load that some -- only some-- colored clothes come back completely greyish and dingy? I''m so confused. after the first time, i tried rinsing out the bleach compartment before doing a colored load, but it still happened. one by one, some of my most favorite clothes are being turned into ugly grey ugliness.

I thought that bleach, if indeed it is the culprit, would take away the color, not darken it? am i missing something. has this happened to anyone else.

Do a couple of loads with CLR. That''ll get rid of it. It sounds like lime build up. I know...I hate when I wash one thing with a little bleach and get rust stains!!

The bleached load comes out fine. it''s just the one that follows -- that is when the clothes get ruined.

Do another load of whites without bleach right after.
