Hi all! I’m looking for advice. I recently bought their pre set halo diamond studs in two different sizes. Before purchasing, I had called customer service to inquire about the dimensions of the earrings. The representative that I spoke with did not have that information available and agreed that purchasing both and returning one pair would be an acceptable approach.
I ended up keeping the smaller pair and returning the larger pair (because the size difference was only discernible to my eyes when the earrings were right next to each other). However, my refund was processed as the amount for the smaller pair.
I spoke with customer service a couple of times today and was told that the inspector said that the earrings were the smaller size. This seems like a reasonable honest mistake, since they seemed very similar size to me. So I requested that the earrings be re-inspected. The customer service representatives have been friendly, but I still haven’t received a call back from their management confirming that they are willing to reinspect. I’m not sure why I would get pushback on a reinspection.
I’m getting close to the end of the return period, and I’m wondering if I should just return the second pair and request a refund of the balance of my payment amount. Although I’m afraid that I still might get short changed in my refund since I’m sure that the pair that I kept is the smaller pair.
This is my first purchase from James Allen, so I’m nervous about the interaction. (I can’t help but feel ripped off, even though the most likely scenario is that their inspector made an honest mistake.)
Do any PS-ers have a customer service rep that they found to be particularly helpful that I might be able to request before going down the return everything route? What would you do in this situation?
Thank you in advance!
