I've been searching high and low for a heart cut 2 carat ruby loose stone. I'm perfect okay with either lab created or a ruby that already been treated. Feel free to self advertise as well

Maybe you could try contacting Gary at Finewater Gems or Gene at Precision Gem to see if they cut heart shapes? I can't be too sure, sorry, but it's a start.

Gene does carry lab ruby material on his site. I've gotten stones from him before and his cutting is truly exceptional, but they were oval-shaped stones—I'm not sure if he cuts heart shapes. I inquired about cutting a pear once and he said he does not do them.

Best of luck!

I too had asked if Gary in the past if he would cut hearts, and he did not at the time in 2016.

I have never seen hearts being listed on his site.

DK :))

Etsy has many lab rubies that are really affordable to choose from. :)

Seconding this, and @sinpsterodi15 could also check Aliexpress for lab rubies from Chinese vendors. They'll most likely cut a heart shape in the specs you want if you message them.

DesertRose on IG is going to Tucson. You could ask her if she's seen them in the past and if she can keep an eye out for you.

Oh thank you! I'll message them asking if they can keep an eye out thank you

Last one—I also often see @leenagemslk on Instagram with heart-shaped stones. They might have rubies. :)

Tandi from @desertrose_gems posted this 2ct unhetaed burmese heart for 6k. Wonder if you reached out to her and she found this? Clarity may be lacking but the pic is bad so can't tell. Don't think she accepts returns, only exchanges, and maybe not even that for show sales.

edit - @sinpsterodi15 so she may get notified. Its her last day at the show.

This pic is so bad it’s not even helpful TBH

For a 6k stone can she go and get another photo? How on earth can you make a purchase without one hah

Im sure she would supply more in DMs. But yes she could have taken another moment for a pic in focus lol

But hey, today is the LAST DAY, DON’T MISS OUT lol

Ugh the fomo marketing really bothers me! Theres also an IG account where the seller claims to want to keep pretty much everything they sell, but out of the goodness of their heart/the fact that they own something similar, they 'heart-achingly' have to sell their goods.

ugh this strategy drives me bonkers - like, why are you making me feel guilty for your out-of-control covetousness as a business person? fictional or not...i don't like even a tinge of emotional manipulation when shopping. i shop to escape from the BS of life, not invite more into my life!

The gem collector, yep

I am following this thread, as I also have been searching high and low for a heart. I won't be able to afford a ruby, but have been wanting to get a red spinel heart or rubellite. I thought of Chatham lab ruby, but they are not cheap for the size i want (like a round 8mm to 9mm). I reached out to Mr. Spinel on instagram, but he never responded.

Mr Spinel is laughably expensive as far as spinels go, IMO...

I'm sure posters could help you out, might be better to start a new thread with what you want and budget.

So what happened with Mr. Spinel was I saw a stone that i liked and reached out to him, he quoted me something like $200/carat, it was about 1.5 carat, so I was like that's not bad at all. I can definitely afford something bigger and I found one on his website that was about 2.2 carat, then he said it was $500/carat, so I asked him what made it more by carat and if he can put the two together to show me a picture, he never responded. I politely reminded him two other times if he can just send me more photos. He obviously read my message, but he chose not to respond. Since then I never reached out to him again.

He got some very beautiful spinels, the blues and the reds are so spectacular, but I hate it not only when they don't show the price and they only have like one video or photo to show. On their website, it says "contact us if you are interested in this product", that sounds very shady and seems like they can just change their price depending who asks... I don't like that.

I hope someone has better luck with him as his stuff looks beautiful at least from his pictures.

Many here would not buy from IG, or only from very few select vendors, for a variety of reasons (needing to dm for price, return options, safety of transaction, etc). Others accept these cons for lower pricing and a larger selection. I would also be put off by such an experience.

Ask Annie at Haydenfred. She is reasonable and may have access. She is much more approachable and her stones are usually in the less expensive side.

Mr Spinel is a mystery to me. I have bought from home but through someone else. He has never responded to me. And it is always hurry, hurry cause they are gone. I get spinels are shifty but color wise I wasn’t particularly impressed, I think I posted in the sticky. However, for the price it wasn’t a big deal.
