Hi!

I really need help deciding if this diamond has any catch.

1 carat E colour SI1 faint florescence 3EX
This is USD5000

The diamond seems eye clean to me ( as layman I can't see anything) but it's graded SI1 and there are quite a lot of twinning wisps on the table so I'm not sure if the diamond will actually look dull.

Grateful if anyone can help and advise on this. I'm looking for something with more brilliance and am not sure if I should up my budget a little bit to VS1 instead.

Here's the cert of the other one I'm considering

Same spec with VS2
This is USD 6000

Thank you!

Hi I’m no expert by any means however the diamond seems eye clean, but has a lot of contrast in the middle which may be seen in person. Have you run the specs through HCA tool ? That would give you a better idea of the brilliance I believe. Does the stone have to be colorless ? What is your budget ?

Found this one looks a bit better

The more expensive one has a better reading but I’m not sure how much difference it’s gonna make to naked eyes. Both of them are within my budgets but there is a 1k difference and I’m not sure if the difference between the two warrants the price difference. I love how the more expensive one shines in the photo! But there are little black dots which I’m not sure if will matter or not compared to the white twinning wisps in the cheaper one that I can’t reli see

I have a day to decide so am struggling

The second one seems more visually pleasing. I would run them both under the HCA tool, it will give you more information to work with. I’m in the process of exchanging a diamond that looked dark under the table similar to the si1 you shared. I could see it in person for sure and I had to return it regardless of the other excellent specs. Hopefully someone with more expertise will add to this thread and give you some more guidance. Diamond shopping can be stressful ... lots of different factors to consider.

Also utilize the chat feature on James Allen they are very helpful. I think those black dots will not be seen by the eyes. Keep in mind a lot of JA videos are at 20x-40x magnification your naked eye will not pick up small imperfections.

Thank you so much! I was talking to James Allen's staff but they said it's really up to personal preference and assured me that both are definitely eye clean. I guess I'll go with the prettier one then! It is too much hassle to send it back and wait for a new one if it looks dull

Thank you!

The E Si1 seems to have paddling on the arrow heads, not sure if it's just the video. You can read about it here.

Do you have the link to the E Vs2?
