I am hoping I can get some opinions on a few sapphires I'm looking at. My main concern is the color. I don't like when they go completely dark in indoor lighting, and I don't live in an area with a ton of sunshine. My second priority is cut. I'd prefer an emerald or cushion, but am willing to get a different shape if the color is better. I don't mind some purple, but absolutely don't want any grey. Also, I'm okay with heated. These options are kind of all over the place, but I'm having a hard time narrowing them down.
  1. Gem 1 from Gemfix
  2. Gem 2 from Gemfix
  3. Gem 3 from Gemfix
  4. Gem 4 from Finewater
  5. Gem 5 from Finewater
  6. Gem 6 from Finewater

Your first link goes to a pair of rounds, so not the right link? I do think the rectangular shape is striking although I wonder if it will have extinction. I like the color of Gem 2 best, and the last one from Finewater.

My picks would be no 4 (but it’s pricey) so no 3 or no 6.

All of them look a bit light in color and pricey for heated stones to me. Have you tried Gem rock and Etsy? ebay has some good deals (just avoid the bad sellers). I like what your going for but in my opinion all 6 of these options aren't great

Ugh you're right! This is the correct link
Corrected gem 1

I will check out both of those places, thank you for your feedback!

Thank you for your response. I wish I could see them all in person!

I’m no help because I liked all of them. I don’t find the prices high either.

I prefer lighter blues for some reason. The price of the Gemfix new #1 isn't bad a it's unheated. When you look at Finewater's pictures, his hand shots are always closer to the real color, fyi.

I liked that they look lighter in pictures because I know they'll look darker in person in normal lighting. So hard shopping online!

Oh that's good to know on the hand shots. I'm partial to lighter colors too because I have one that looks really pretty blue in some lighting, but kind of dark and dead in other. I want it to nice in my every day lighting

I’d vote for 2.

Have you seen this one?

That one is beautiful! It might be a little small for what I'm looking for, but definitely an option. I also saw this one on the site

Just to update, I actually purchased the one from Earth's Treasury that I found, and I love it! It was a little higher priced than I was originally thinking, but it's unheated and the color and cut are perfect. Now I just have to figure out what kind of setting to do. My experience with Earth's Treasury was great, and I would highly recommend them. Here are some pictures. Excuse my dry hands. Winter is the worst!

Oh my goodness, what a lovely color!! The little hint of purple is so pretty! That size also just seems perfect for your hand, imo. :))

Do you have any ideas for settings that you are drawn to already, or are you starting from scratch? Did you have an idea already for what color of metal in mind, or is that also undecided? It is so exciting having a stone and being in the planning stages for a setting!

Thank you! I'm really happy with the size.

I have a few ideas, but I don't know how I'll make a decision! I wanted to avoid a halo because I feel like I have a ton of rings with halos, but it might look really nice. I've been looking at Maytal Hannah and these are the two settings I originally narrowed it down to. I hate making decisions! I was planning to do white gold, but that could change too.

Great find! I like the first option with the additional prongs and unique detailing on the shanks. How do you feel about 6 or 8 claw prongs? Something like @ItsMainelyYou 's latest shiny?

Ooooh that's gorgeous! I was thinking about something similar to this when I was thinking of more a cushion or emerald cut, but seeing it with an oval works too. Something like this is definitely an option

Thank you! If you're wondering, the set was made by JuliaB!
Also, that sapphire!

Awesome, I'll check out her settings too! Your ring is beautiful!

I keep staring at the sapphire, I'm so happy with it!

I can't wait to see what you end up with. Endless possibilities.
It's going to spectacular!

What beautiful settings! I also really like the additional prongs idea!

Sometimes when I'm thinking about setting designs and I don't know what to do, I feel like my thoughts turn to intricate engravings and milgrain... that could keep you away from halos while still giving the sides of the stone and the band some flair!

These are all pieces from TheNorthWay Studio... she does lots of amazingly intricate work! I know all of these settings seem to be chunkier than the two settings you shared, so imagine this flavor of engraving on a smaller band if that's what you're thinking of!

Those are beautiful too! They have an antique look that I also love! I tend to go for dainty, or antique, so these are up my alley too. I'll look into these too! Thank you!

Your sapphire is beautiful! I love the color and how happy you are with it!

I was looking at TheNorthWay yesterday. I love her rings! I was so bummed that she won't set customer's stones.

Cheyenne Weil I think does set outside stones. Have you checked her out?
