Hello all! I am hoping you can help me out. I am new to both pricescope and lab diamonds. After doing research, I have realized that the community here is supportive and helpful beyond measure.

I want to get my DW a pair of lab grown diamond earrings for everyday use. The one thing my DW considers the most important is “sparkle.” They will be basket or bezel setting with a la pousette (guardian) back, likely in gold. I would like each stone to be .75 to 1.0 (1.5 to 2.0 CTW). My ideal budget for the completed project is about $1,500. I do realize that it may need to increase or stone size drop.

I was looking at a pair of matching BGD precision cute, but they are now sold. I have now looked at WF. They have some loose diamonds that look good and can easily be configured. So, I have some idea of what they both offer, and the cost associated with each vendor.

I have now reached a point where I don’t know the best way to move forward. My questions are (1) for sparkle, am I better going with BGD or WF matched diamonds? (2) Would the preset diamonds they sell be of comparable sparkle, even if downgraded on color and clarity? (I do realize that they would not be certified stones). If I were to look for loose diamonds from a seller (i.e. James Allen, Ritani, Adiamore, etc.) how would the cut and sparkle compare? (I have read on here about overall value being higher, but I am asking specifically on cut and sparkle). Finally, if it were to get loose diamonds from a different seller, who would you recommend for setting them, know that I want la pousette backs?

Thank you for helping me out!

Hello and welcome to PriceScope, Troyh!
We'll definitely help you find some great diamonds to pick from - are you specifically wanting true super ideal cut like from Brian Gavin, Whiteflash, Victor Canera, JannPaul, or Distinctive Gem or is finding AGS000 equivalent out in the wild OK with you?

@DejaWiz that is a great question to which I only have an indirect answer. I am more concerned about sparkle then the designation of the cut. So, if the cut produces the same sparkle, I am completely open to AGS000.

I would still need to get them set, and not sure where to go for that, nor its impact on cost.

Both of these can be purchased for just under $300 each:

They are listed at Ritani (albeit for a higher price than the lowest priced seller), so you can ask for a price match and have them set them into their earring studs. I just did that with a 1.5tcw set for my wife and they turned out quite nice!

I think for earring especially you will be fine in the sparkle department if you choose non-branded diamonds that fit the ideal proportions and show nice optical symmetry. The ones Deja wiz chose are a nice example of this option. It will save a bit of money and not affect appearance overmuch.

Dejawiz thank you so much!!! Those look great. I still need a little help, I can’t find them lower priced as mentioned to request a price match. Not sure what I am doing wrong.

Dreamer_D thank you for letting me know how it will affect sparkle.

Search the grading report number at LooseGrownDiamond using this URL:

Dejawiz thank you again! I’ll contact Ritani and see what happens.

You're very welcome and fingers crossed that they can make this happen quickly for you and your DW!

@DejaWiz unfortunately, only one of the diamonds is available. They have not told me which one is not available. Any chance you can work your magic and find a second stone that would be as amazing?

Sure thing - hold tight and I'll try to find some alternatives...I'll search and post after I indulge into this Philly - should be about 30 mins.

@DejaWiz thank you again! Stones have been ordered. I will upload photos when I receive them!

You're very welcome and that's fantastic news, Troyh - definitely looking forward to hearing what you think and seeing photos!

We love photos! :kiss2:
