Kenny's peabrain got stuck thinking what causes waves on the beach.
I even did what I call my last resort ... inserting every letter of the alphabet into the puzzle (in my mind).
When imagining H in there, it failed so I went on to I j k ...

Hand doesn't cause the waves to form on the beach. :wall:

I had never heard of a nosh; I'll have to look that up.

I love CW puzzles.
They help free your mind when it gets stuck in a rut.

It’s rather hilarious to me, ‘cause typically, I am just this side of useless at crossword puzzles. I took a peek, and the words leapt out at me. Totally surprised myself.

Another thing that blows my mind about CW puzzles ...

NYT publishes a full CWs and a mini CW every day.
365 a year, each
Their archive of the full one goes back to 1993, 30 years time 365 = 10,950
The mini archive goes back to 2014; 7 years x 365 = 2,555

So, you can solve 13,505 CW puzzles in their archive.
Right now I'm working through the minis back to 2018.
Some evenings I'll solve 30 or 40 of them.
My best time is 45 second ... that's for the easiest, the Mondays.
I'm doing minis to train for the full-sized CWs.

When totally stumped, I'll close a mini unfinished.
A couple days later I'll come back to it, and the answer(s) dawn on my almost immediately, practically laughing at me.

So strange how this grey matter is.

Totally agree that how our minds work is a fascination! I've done similar when contemplating on resolving ______ (fill in the blank). When I've given up and move on, the answer will suddenly light up. Maybe to do with relaxing and not trying so hard?

I am now addicted to the NYT mini crosswords, taking a couple minutes to do one each day :)

Mini Cws are a great for us without the time a full-sized CW takes.
Also, they're more inviting and less intimidating for beginners.

My FIL was a NYT crossword puzzle fiend! He always did them in ink. I would do crossword puzzles in pencil. He had very, very few words incorrect, and he was speedy!

EEK!
I only do them online.
I suppose, instead of finger-typing on my keyboard, I could press the keys with an ink pen.
Same thing, right?
