Hi...I''ve never posted before so I hope I''m doing and right, and sorry if I am not! Thank goodness I found this board because it seems so helpful!

I have a big problem and I was wondering if anyone else had this issue at all.... my dress finally came in and I went to try it on and had my maid of honor take photos so I could show them off but after viewing the pictures I am not in love my dress anymore

When the pictures were taken the flash went off and I don''t think the dress looks as good on me in these pictures. Maybe those of you who have already had the big day can tell me from experience if they had any issues with this satin dress being too reflective or anything in pictures...anything would be helpful...thanks!
(I can''t figure out how to attach a photo that isn''t too big so sorry I have no example of what I''m talking about)

Hi and Welcome!

Go to that link. They make it easy to resize pics :)
post some pics and we'll be glad to help

Is it silk satin or synthetic? I love the way that the silk satin photographs but the synthetic is a little more unpredictable. It''s hard to comment without seeing it.

I know that in the fashion world it is not recommended to wear shiny fabrics (unless they are barely 90 lbs) for exactly this reason... The shine will reflect off of the parts you do NOT want to accentuate

Sorry

I think I know exactly what you are talking about, my dress just arrived and although it is chiffon, there is a satin underlay and it seems to shine through on all the pics, definately not what I signed up for!!! The only thing I can suggest is make sure that you have all your photos in natural light where the flash won''t be needed. I am hoping that''s all I''ll need. It is a little annoying though, if I had been allowed to take a picture of the sample I tried on I would have known about it before, and would not have got such a shock when I looked at the pics a few days ago!!

For starters, HOT you look amazing in your dress!!!!

Secondly, raise the issue with your photographers, they may be able to work their magic to overcome the shine?

Sadly, cheaper satins don''t always photog well. If it really worries you, are you in a position to change dresses?

I do think a professional wedding photographer''s camera will be much better than the point and shoot camera that i''m assuming your friend used to take the photographs. So, your gown should be way less shiny in your actual wedding photos. But, like someone else said, you might want to talk to your actual wedding photog to get their opinion on the matter.

Did you like how the dress looked on you when just looking at it in person (before you saw the photos)? That''s more important, in my opinion.

My dress was satin, and I understand what you are saying....sometimes in a regular person''s camera, it can be reflective. however, having received my photog''s pictures, there wasn''t any shiny-ness at all in his pics. I was in a wedding a few years ago, where my great friend wore a 5K $ dress, and the same thing happened...shiny in non-professional photos, and not shiny in the professional ones. It never bothered me too much though - i like the reflectiveness. Can you give us a picture?
