I am in the process of making a pendant with a golden south sea pearl and need help selecting a diamond. I am looking for something with a little warmer color but still an ideal cut. I would greatly appreciate your thoughts on these 2. The SA is getting me photos side by side. Definitely ok with yellow tint. Not interested in brown. Didn’t know how to post the actual diamond. Thanks so much!674F4CA6-9C8A-49BF-B9F5-2A01CB486878.png62FD588D-0D73-435D-841E-95984C5A097C.png

I prefer the second one as I like the specs and it is larger!

Agree with @MissGotRocks , second one is bigger and I don't like paying for VVS clarity. Of course, you didn't post the price. If there
is a significant price difference and the top one is a lot cheaper then I could change my mind but I doubt that is the case so I vote for
the second one.

Thank you. There is about a $600 price difference. Limited inventory in this size and color. I am hoping seeing them both together will help too for size and color.

Thank you! What about the specs makes the second one better so I can learn more?

I like the 34.8/40.8 crown and pavilion numbers. The first one is fine too - a little different flavor but the eye may not notice it at all. Will be interesting to see the side by side photos!
I also agree about not paying for the VVS clarity although sometimes the price also depends on when the diamonds were procured and what the purchase price was at that time. All factors to weigh in on your decision and the WF rep may like one over the other as well.

Thanks so much! Anxious to hear what tge rep says as well.

I actually looked at the diamonds on the website. The first one appears whiter in the face up position although you said that isn’t a main consideration for you. It also appears to be the less expensive so if size isn’t a main concern, it may in fact be the better selection. Anxious to hear what your rep says!

Thanks. The pearl drop is 13mm so also trying to determine the best size for the diamond as I will also be using emerald and yellow diamond melee in the design. Will update on what I decide.

Is it a round pearl? Or a non-round pearl? I'm not that familiar with pearl terms. What is a pearl drop?

I was thinking you could use diamdb.com if the pearl is round to get an idea of what the two different sizes would look like with the pearl.

Dont know if this is useful or not but here is the 5.5 mm stone compared with a 13mm size stone.

BTW...you can use 8 carats to get a 13mm stone.

That is really helpful! Did you see any brown tint in the larger stone?

Here is a photo of the side by side of the two. I definitely see a difference in size 83F8F14A-212A-467F-9D2E-9BA8B40951EA.png

Yes, difference in size and color. Which way are you leaning?

This may be helpful in your concern regarding brown tint. It’s supposed to be disclosed on the lab report at K and lower.

Of course your eyes may see it differently. However, it’s a concern so I’d ask the WF team to confirm and alleviate your concerns.

Thanks so much. The rep has confirmed that they both have a yellow tint but not brown. The larger a little more yellow.

That's how they appeared to me too, but if I've learned anything it's that you ladies have way better vision than us men.

That said, I will ask you this question how I would ask my wife -- professional opinions aside, what do your eyes tell you and where does your gut lead you? Because no matter what they say or I say or anyone else, if it doesn't feel right to you then it won't ever be right and is just a waste of time & money.

I've pulled them up on the WF site and examined both. Both are winners. You just need to decide which one speaks to you the most. I'd encourage you to watch the videos of each stone. Try to open two browser windows and place side by side and cue them up so they are spinning at near identical rotation. Place them as close to each other as possible and see which one your eye draws too. There are some nuances in the way each behaves.

That is a great suggestion. I have watched the videos a bunch of times. For some reason I keep going back to the smaller one though I am not sure why! Waiting to finalize the pearl selection before I decide do have some time to think about it. Thanks so much for your suggestions!

I go back to the smaller one too. It seems to me the rainbow flashes are a tad larger and occur more quickly than the other stone. However, when I look at the proportions on paper, my mind prefers the larger as those make more sense.

By chance, have you asked WF if they can do a side-by-side fire and brilliance video for you with the two stones? Also, it may not hurt to place a temporary reserve on them. ;)2

I haven’t but can certainly ask for the side-by-side video. Maybe that will help me decide!
Thanks again for your insight. This is the first time buying a warmer stone as all my other purchases have been G or above. This pendant will have a special meaning so want to get it right.

It does seem like the larger one has a tad more tint to it than the smaller one. Wether it shows up in real-life viewing or not
may be questionable. I would certainly ask the SA.

I have a small (.46) super ideal J stone and it seems like due to size the color/tint doesn't show up as much (I cant perceive it).
Its not bright white but is not "yellow" either. YMMV. Of course, these stones are bigger than mine.

Thanks! Still trying to decide. The SA gave me side by side videos and they both looked great. The larger seemed a tad more yellow and she said it was. She said the smaller was a high K and the larger closer to an L. Just selected the golden south sea pearl so I will need to decide soon. I think they both would work.

Pearl purchased and have the CAD below. Tge diamond will be surrounded by emeralds and yellow diamonds. This is a revised CAD. Seems like there are still too many prongs. Would appreciate any thoughts to improve the CAD. Based on the CAD I think the smaller diamond might be best?

Did a separate post but no response so I thought I would add this to the thread.
Thanks so much for reviewing. 42DF8F06-DECC-4E9B-ACDB-82ED7C982F14.jpeg

So if too many prongs, how about bezeling the outer points of the star rather than prong setting? Just another thought - leave the points off the star leaving a circle with alternating green/yellow stones around the diamond? Just not sure how much of this design is in stone with you. Does the star effect represent something or is it just something you like?

Thank you @MissGotRocks . The emeralds around the diamond are meaningful. Wanted a softer, flower like look for the yellow diamonds vs the star I think. Maybe the bezel on the outer side of the yellow diamonds would achieve that? Not experienced with CADs. Maybe bezel the larger diamond to remove some of the prongs?

You have had great success with your designs so it is hard to suggest - lol! But yes, bezel of the main diamond and softening up the yellow diamonds somehow might work to achieve the look. Are the yellow diamonds larger than the emerald stones? Maybe if they were smaller? Think DK could work some engraved gold around the spaces between the yellows to soften up the look a bit? Course that could make the total diameter larger than what you want in relation to the pearl. Maybe DK would have some suggestions but in the CAD as it is now, I see star rather than flower? Do you?

I do see a star. I can reach out to see if David can soften it a bit. The yellow diamonds are larger. Thank you for your feedback, I really appreciate it. We are selling a family vacation home to support my Mom going into assisted living and trying to create a piece to capture many wonderful memories of times spent together. I really want to get it right whatever that is

Should be a lovely piece of jewelry - hope it captures all the special memories. Can’t wait to see it!

Diamond purchased. Selected the .624 K VVS2 ACA. After looking at the videos a million times it was the one that spoke to me. So excited. Waiting for the next CAD. Thank you for your help!
