I know a lot of you are in the NJ/Philly region. Can anyone direct me to a great place to have our rehearsal dinner in Oct? We''re getting married at The Mansion on Main Street in Voorhees, NJ.
I''ve looked at a few places, but nothing seems to be what I want. I want modern, fresh food - not something normal like italian. I''m having the hardest time.

I found Embers in Cherry Hill, which is a woodfire grill, but the customer service getting back to me is horrible. I was asking questions through email but it would take the manager over 2 weeks each time to get back to me. Plus when I tried and called the office, I would only get voicemail. Yesterday I called and made a reservation for this weekend to try the food with my fiance''s parents, and the women didn''t speak very good English and when I asked her if I could set up a meeting with the manager to go over rehearsal dinner options, she told me just to ask my server and they would bring him over. I wanted a little more o a premeditated meeting, not just something off the cuff, you know? Am I asking too much?

Starting to get frustrated, and I''ve spent hours online look for places that specifically do rehearsal dinners to not much avail. Anyone know of a good restaurant that may be off the radar in the Cherry Hill, Voorhees, Mount Laurel, Medford, Marlton, Moorestown area?

Thanks!

I''m sorry I cannot be of any help as I''m not in your area. However, your story sounds just like what I''m going thru with the rehearsal dinner planning! It''s SO frustrating!!! I had a restaurant do basically what you are talking about.....no replies to emails or voicemail for WEEKS. I don''t think you are asking too much. You are going to pay a hefty amount probably for their service and they don''t give you the respect of a call. Very frustrating!

Sorry you going thru this. Good luck with your search ;)

Hi RHB - I am new to the S. Jersey area but am in the same location as you. Have you considered Haddonfield? They have a lot of nice small restaurants. Maybe use Zagat to narrow it down.

Thanks you guys.

Sorry you are also going through this SassyB, it does suck was you expect good customer service and just don''t get it. I was seriously thinking not even going there to eat and just scratching them all together! But we will probably go on Sat anyway, hopefully they are better in person.............

and thanks Loverocks, I will give Zagat a go! :-)

Honestly I would go in philly - there are so many great options for unique dining experiences. My top recommendation would be Amada in Old City - you cant go wrong!

As far as NJ goes here are a few:
Caffe Aldo Lamerti on rt 70: http://www.lambertis.com/
Cork: http://www.corknj.com/

Oh RHB!!!!! Time to use my brain here

I live in south Jersey, and I love love love to go out and eat.

Redstone in Cherry Hill is amazing. It's American food like chicken and burgers, but it's an almost upscaled version of the food. It is amazing!!!!! They have this drink called a Stoli Doli...mmmmm Link

The Pub in Pennsauken is really different. It's almost like a midevil type restaurant with a huge dining room. Link

There a ton of options in Philly if you're willing to travel there. If you are, I'll make some recommendations.

philly317 Cork looks awesome! Thank you. I saw that in my searches but wasn''t sure the location. When I brought it up in yahoo maps I see it is actually 2 miles closer than Embers! I emailed them right away!

Thank you.

princessplease thank you thank you also! Oh, I contact Redstone a couple months ago b/c its actually right down the street from where we are getting married. They told me they would absolutely NOT accommodate me for my rehearsal on a friday night. Thanks. urg.

The pub does look really interesting. They are now on my list to contact even though that may be getting a little far away for us. We actually live near Mount Holly, so the very northern part of southern NJ.

Stone Grill looks way too neat too!

Thank you you guys soooooooo much!!!
