Hey all, I have been lurking for while now, your forums are so helpful. Now I need the experts to chme in. My bride to be has picked a Fancy Yellow Stone and I need to know if the deal is respectable. I have researched a ton and realize that pricing on the Colors is a tough one. Here is the GIA:
Cut Cornered Square Modified Brilliant
8.01 x 8.01 x 4.94mm (Yes a perfect square!)
2.76 ct
Natural Fancy Yellow, Even
Si1 (One feather)
d=61.7%
Table= 72%
Girdle Ex Thin to Ex Thick
Culet= none
polish=good
Sym=good
Flur= none
My Take one the stone:
Beautiful color Yellow, no brown,very even color. Under the loop, only one feather visable, looks better than most VS stones I have seen, no blacks. Feather is off to the outer edge and tiny. The dealer, of course thought that Si1 was way underated. By the loop, I agree. Looked at many higher priced Yellows next to it, and it stood up beautifully. Looked perfect indoors and out.
Now the price, just above 12k a carat, about 35,000 for stone! I can''t find a stone with those specs that is that HIGH priced on the net, most are 23,000 to 28,000.
Do you think its priced to high? Or is it just subject to opinion?
One of the dealers biggest sales pushes, was how it was a perfect, close to perfect square.
Your opinions and expert advice would be awesome.
I have bought from this dealer before, 2 high end stones, and he has been great with me. But the price just seems HIGH to me.
Thanks, Daniel
