help with alexandrite

Hi everyone

I''m a newbie - new to PS & newly engaged with no ring

as I wanted to pick my own stone/ring. I''ve been reading lots of threads and must admit,

with lots of gorgeous stones/rings on this forum.

I definitely want a coloured stone for my e-ring, LOVE green stones and am leaning towards alexandrite.

I looked thru the list of online vendors and am stumped as to where to start. We''re in Australia and fr what I''ve read, are better off going to the wholesalers/dealers in the US, and are happy to head over.

Can anyone point me in the direction of where to look (eg. previous purchases etc)? Dealers/websites that they would recommend? I gathered buying online is quite common so am happy to do so fr a reputable dealer. Am looking for a natural not synthetic if that helps.

Richard Wise usually has nice alexandrite and a corresponding pricetag. Dave at Multicolour has a wide selection of alexandrite and a reputation for having a good eye for choosing them.

I would start with both, depending on your budget and requirements.

Alexandrites are not easy to select via online because it is difficult to see the colour change. www.awesomegems.com generally has some decent ones.

For something this expensive and special as an engagement ring, I'd have a vendor search for me. I like Wink of www.winkjones.com for special gemstones that are difficult to find and if I need something super special.
