Hi everyone,

I have two very similar diamonds in spec that I can choose from with similar prices as well.

Either a 1.02 triple X with faint fluorescence or a 1.0 2x with 1 VG (symmetry) and no fluorescence.

Is there one that is technically better with the specs and cut proportions? Any advice would be helpful.

That's the same GIA report posted twice.

These 2 seem to be the same stone.

Oops. Thanks for pointing that out. I’m a Luddite

Agree with tyty333 and lovedogs.

What is your:
1. Location/country
2. Budget
3. Lowest color grade desired
4. Lowest clarity grade desired

Well, neither of these is great. Are you working with a local jeweler? Can we help you locate a better cut stone?

Interesting. Could I ask why you think this way?

neither one is particularly well cut for a number of reasons; the well versed folks will give you the details

Both stones have proportions that don't work very well together. The HCA tool helps weed out stones that aren't well cut. You want a stone that scores under 2.

There is so much information at your fingertips on this forum. Go to the Education section and read up :read:

There are many here who would be happy to assist you in finding a beautiful stone, at least start with a basic understanding of the importance of cut.

Depth on one (62.7%) is too deep. A well cut 1 carat should face up around 6.45. High pavilion angle on the other means its not
going to return light well.

@Kim N posted the HCA scores and you can see they are not good. You can use the tool yourself. It is located here...

Also, if you use the Diamond Search tool at the very top of the page it will help you find well-cut stones. Look for stones that
score EX for Light Return, Fire, and Scintillation, and Very good (for spread).

Let us know if you need help with a stone.
