Help with diamond pendant

For Christmas, my husband gifted me the opportunity to choose my own diamond pendant. Yay! I’ve long had my eye on the Brian Gavin Barbara pendant, but now that it comes down to it, I’m wondering if there’s anything else out there that might save me some cash on the setting so that I can afford a larger diamond.
Total budget is $2000. I’d like the diamond to sit right at the base of my throat and ideally just look like it’s floating there. I prefer a sliding pendant, I think, rather than one fixed on the chain—I don’t want it to ride up my neck. Open to a bezel (with milgrain?) or not. The bigger the better, but intense sparkle is the most important feature. I’ve been searching in the .3-.5 range. Don’t mind a lower color or clarity as long as the diamond looks like it’s on fire. I’d like to purchase from somewhere with a good upgrade policy.
I got so overwhelmed when I started looking that I thought hey—I bet the folks at PS could help me out!
Any specific diamond and/or setting recommendations would be most appreciated!

White Flash has a really good upgrade policy as do Wink/HPD.

I think you wanted a high colour diamond (not sure if you're the same poster I forgot lol). There isn't much inventory under the 0.5ct at the moment.

I was looking at that setting. Do you think the bezel will be particularly prominent? Also, that looks like a gorgeous stone, but I think E/IF is way overkill for a pendant like this. Thinking more H-J/SI1-2.

I was looking and couldn't find anything that meets your specs right now.
The WF bezel looks thick to me in the pics. But maybe start a thread asking to see them? It might be very delicate in person.

I have a RG bezel pedant done by Brian Gavin Diamonds. The main reason I went with BG is because I know their bezel is barely visible and their pendants look like they're just floating on the neck.

My diamond is a .30 D, VS2. It's a lovely size for every day wear on it's own or layered.
BGD makes an awesome bezel, very delicate. It has to be my fave DBTY style bezel (next to Tiffany's).

Absolutely beautiful—thank you for the pic. Do you find that you need to adjust the necklace often, or does the diamond stay relatively centered?

It doesn't ride up, but it does go off center every know and then. I just move it back when I notice. It's not a big deal to me. If it would bother you, definitely get a sliding pendant.

You could try Victor Canera. He has really nice stones and maybe this necklace- I would think that he could make it a sliding pendant if you prefer. He also has an upgrade policy that is great If you don’t need the upgrade policy, you could try David Klass FA152C62-1C7D-4771-A666-96F86A49A693.png

not sure if IDJ can get you what you want / no idea about their upgrade policy but they're pretty good at maxing value for money from what I've seen around here (never personally used).

I second Victor Canera. His diamonds are absolutely gorgeous, and his bezel pendants are beautifully delicate as well. You truly can't go wrong!!

Check out this thread if you haven't already.

I recommend a very simple 4 prong basket setting.

I have a BG .30 in a necklace and it's an L, bought during one of their sales. I had it hung at the bottom of a necklace with other smaller diamonds, and you really don't notice any tint/contrast, just that it's the most sparkly. The blue flour probably helps. It was way affordable, under $400. If you'd consider the lower color, you could go up in size.
