Hey first time posting on the Gemstone side so I'm relying on the expertise of the Ruby Connoisseurs lol tried to get the best pics I used both UV Light Spectrums to try and help any possible identification, I bought this band at a thrift market haven't got round to trying to work out the CT Weights yet I just saw a pretty Half Hoop ring it's 18ct UK Birmingham Hallmark, Again apologies if the Images I've taken aren't the best I'd just be interested to know the details if Synthetic or not I don't understand what Chalky UV Glow means in Rubies so here I am either way I'm happy with it but it's the first Ruby Piece I've ever bought so sounds silly I'd really appreciate all your expertise on whether you think it's Natural, Synthetic etc
Many Thanks!

Hello there and welcome to the CS boards! Naturally, it's difficult to be sure just by looking at photos, but I would wager, judging by the rubies' color and inclusions, that they're natural. They may or may not be treated. There is some abrasion there. The diamonds are a different story... you may want to look into getting a diamond tester or bringing the ring by your local jeweler to be sure. Pretty piece, and I'd say a darn good thrift purchase regardless!!

The diamonds are modern round brilliants. So the makers marks include a year for the setting? It’s either a reproduction contemporary with the diamonds (Stuller has rings like that) or an older setting with new diamonds.

Pretty sure CZ doesn’t have fluor so the one lifting up blue is real at least. I think the diamonds are real just based on the cut which is pretty standard commercial grade MRB.

CZ can fluoresce, but typically not blue. It's tricky, because LGDs sometimes do contain boron and/or nitrogen, which is what usually causes the blue fluorescence in natural diamonds. That is why I always send mine off... this hurts my brain (I don't trust diamond testers either). lol I let the experts figure it out. :D But I'd suspect that because of the 18k gold and natural rubies, these would likely be natural.

Lovely ring.
Lab grown rubies are identical to natural rubies except for inclusions.
Given that the diamonds are genuine and the setting is 18ct gold, it’s more likely than not that they are natural rubies.

Inclusions and color are pretty fair indicators an diamond isn’t lab grown too. This is why I like included, tinted old cuts lol

Thanks everyone, The Diamonds I'm pretty sure are natural mostly due to the crude MRB Cut, especially on the Accent Stones I was more intrigued by the Rubies as the Seller told me they were Garnets, I picked it up for £230 which isn't bad all things considered, Dreamer D I'm right there with you Tinted Old Cuts all the way I have nothing against LGD but I just like Pieces that have some History - Regarding CZ Flu I've seen Pink CZ Glow bright Green under UV Light mostly because I collect alot of Uranium Glass Jewellery I got lucky a few times & found some Fab UG Pink Pieces but I did buy the odd CZ Dud with Bad Pics via eBay.

I'll have to look up the makers mark, Especially with it being English & from Birmingham Jewellery Quarter it "Should" be easy lol so we'll see, Thanks again everyone for all the help & input really appreciate it especially on the Ruby side of things total novice here Ruby Wise, especially with Ones like in this Band.

Also update sounds silly I thought I lost a similar half Hoop old cut ring earlier and found it in my Weiman cleaning solution, Thank god it was only 9ct otherwise it would've melted overnight :')

Before I found it the Vaccum had a sock wrapped around the nozzle and the house was scoured guess I can't multitask after taking pics of the ring above last night eh least my spring cleaning is started

Glad my first Ruby Ring Buy is Genuine nothing against Synthetic there's some amazing Antique Synth Ruby & Diamond Half Hoops similar but like mine with stunning Authentic OMC & OEC's like I said I really don't know the difference between Chalky UV & Non Chalky UV with Ruby Fluorescence, I have a small natural burmese star ruby which I tried to compare too but I still couldn't figure it out :lol-2:

Appreciate all the help especially as I said earlier I thought I lost a similar vintage Diamond Half Hoop Ring in Weimans Jewellery Cleaner overnight... Luckily it didn't melt
