I would like to get John a nice watch as a present soon but I'm baffled by a few things.

The watches he likes are very similar but with two variations of each.

The SE red label is Model: 606109 which looks just like 605789 except it doesn't have the red label.
The Luno is 605557 and the Red Label is Luno is 606111

So here are my questions.... other than the red writing at the bottom of the red labels is there any difference (I swear I tried to figure this out myself) between the 'regular' and the "red label"... he's not a 'fashion forward' kinda guy. He just likes the watch. The little red label, if it's just a label, doesn't mean anything to him. Plus, I can't find prices for the red label anywhere or see them listed for sale anywhere either.

And second... the prices are all over the place on the net. I'd like to buy from an authorized retailer. But I know mostof these aren't authorized retailers. SO I guess what I am asking is... where have you guys bought from that is an authorized retailer but still has really good prices, apparently Movado Authorized dealers aren't allowed to sell on the net (though tourneau is and does)... so any recommendations?

Also, I think Tourneau is an Authorized dealer (it says so on their site explicitly) and I believe they are reputable, but they sell on the net (which Movado.com is saying can't happen). And well, their prices are straight retail, so has anyone bought from them and gotten a discount from them?

Third, according to Tourneau... the SE retails for 1400 and the Luno for 1000. But on Amazon (who is not an authorized dealer, but gets around that buy buying from authorized dealers so the watches are genuine, then they warranty it themselves for 5 years, and Movado itself warranties for two years)... they are priced the same. I like the SE better, and I think he does too, and the 400 isn't a huge difference, but if I don't have to pay it, you know, I'd rather not. Any insights?

Sorry, just out of my depth. I'm not a watch person.

Um.... help???

Now I am certainly no Movado expert, but I would forget about the red label if he likes both styles equally. Sounds like tracking one down that doesn''t cost a ton, would be difficult. Also, I wouldn''t worry too much about buying from an authorized dealer. They are pretty simple quartz watches, just make sure you are dealing with a reputable seller, the watch is working before the return period expires, and then you should be fine.

Gypsy, don''t know if this is any help to you but Bloomingdales was selling some of their Movados at 40% off not too long ago. I was looking at them myself ''cause DH likes them too. He already has a dressy one and I was looking at a more sporty version for the weekend. They don''t have them online but if you go in-store, you can see them in the fine jewelry department.

Thank you both.

Diamond Flame... okay, I had no idea about Quartz watches being easy to service, so that aleviates some of my concern. Thank you! I don't think we're gonna bother with the red label either.

CD.... Good to KNOW! Right now he's deciding between the watch and a Shun Knife set. So we'll see where he ends up. Thank you!

I know this is late to your thread but RueLaLa is having a Movado watch sale on August 25th.
