I went to a local jeweler and was 99% sure I was getting ripped off, so I plunged into research about buying loose diamonds online. Long story short, the research led me to being all in on buying this diamond:

My budget is flexible but I just need assessment of this diamond. I’ve already had 2 “independent gemologists” from different companies telling me it’s a great find, but I need some more negativity/objectivity, if it exists. Thanks!

Looks pretty nice to me. I like the shape. There does seem to be a little darkness in the areas I've circled. Not sure if that's a constant
or is dynamic. Not sure how much it would bother me either.

Let's see if @Karl_K is available to take a look...

There is an ASET image if you click through the images (which looks ok/fine to me...see what Karl says.

Accidentally made a response with nothing in it… lol. Thank you! I appreciate the analysis as I am a first time buyer and the local jewelry store I was going to had like a 4-5 grand markup on all natural diamonds. Because I’m a first time buyer, when looking at an ASET image, it is best (for emerald diamonds) to appear bright throughout?

Bright throughout on the ASET is good but you want them to flash on/off to get that scintillation. The ASET image is another
piece of the puzzle that helps you/us understand how the diamond may respond (in person). You just dont want a lot of black (leakage)
on the ASET. Some is fine...too much, not good. Karl is better at reading ASET images so wait for his analysis.

Your steps look like they are stepping pretty good...again, lets wait for Karl.

I’ve learned more about diamond shopping online from this forum than from all jewelry companies I’ve ever shopped from! With that, I have another question. Is it uncommon for diamonds to come with an ASET image? If not, can you request ASET images from the broker? With an ASET image + GIA graded + 360 zoom video + zoomed image, can you judge a diamond online appropriately, or is there an additional step?

I don't think most diamonds "come with" an aset image. You can request one but not all vendors/jewelers/brokers do them.
(I don't think all jewelers even know what an ASET is).

Karl designed a stepcut stone (The Octavia) so he has particular expertise related to step cuts. He can probably look at the
video and tell enough about it but it's always nice to have an ASET to back up what you think you're seeing.

Yes, IMO, with all the info you've listed, along with a good return policy, it is possible to buy a nice diamond online. Diamonds
can have different personalities that may affect you once you see something in person. If the stone just doesn't do it for you
when you see it in person you want to be able to return it. Most of the Pricescope vendors do have good return policies. Of course,
you'll want to check out a vendor's return policy before ordering.

Came to say the same thing.

not a fan.
The top area is normal the bottom not but a tiny amount of tilt can make that difference. So more data needed there.....
However.....
With the video that you can not control the tilt you have to start and stop quickly to access the stone at different tilt angles.
There is a 360 controllable video out there most likely and it would be needed to be 100% sure but I am seeing signs of a lot of the steps in the middle of the stone going dark all at the same time under tilt.
That makes for a dark looking stone off axis and less life.
Its not definitive but enough that I would probably move on.
A controllable 360 vid may prove its just a small area of tilt it does it and not a huge issue but the chances are fairly small.

Thank you very much for your input, Karl! I’m back to hunting for emerald cuts. Not sure if anyone/you are willing to help, but I will move on and continue looking. Budget isn’t that strict but would like to keep similar size with a more brilliant stone. Open to any suggestions/slight price bump up.

I think this stone looks better in the video… could be completely off base. @tyty333 @Karl_K @lovedogs

I ilke the 1.90 more but not sure if I like the center.

Damn… this looks perfect! Wish it didn’t cost as much as it did but you get what you pay for… I’ll see if my local jeweler has anything that’ll do it for me but if not this one looks great! Thank you so much!
