cluelessguy, I''ve been following your story from finding the stone to getting the ring! Congratulations - it is really beautiful and I know she will love it.
thanks for the advice....i actually just added it onto my homeowners policy this morning...so im all set with that...i feel like there are no appraisors close by me, i looked at the appraisors on here and they are all a hassle to get to..i guess i have the option of going to a jeweler to have a look at the ring and the report and do a little appraisal also, but i feel like they try and bash it to try and get you to buy from them..probably not even worth my time or money..i purchased a loupe on amazon (didnt come yet) i want to see if i can see the lazer inscription so maybe at least i will know 100% that i have the correct stone..although the inscription may be coverred by setting or prongs...also, i cant make out whats stamped inside the ring..it should say pt 950 right? so i need to make that out with the loupe also....i dont know how im gonna wait 2 months..im already trying to convince myself that i could do it earlier...but im trying to be strong..lolDate: 6/24/2010 11:27:40 AM

I saw your other thread and went to this one first to reply. On your hands it even looks like a good size. A stone that size will not look small on a size 6 hand. I remember when mine was that size and even a 1 carat lookes substantial enough. So don''t worry about that.
If you are worried about the prongs (which I can''t see anything bad in your pics) then I would take it to be looked at by someone just in case and see if they agree. If it does bother you, contact the vendor and have them fix it. I also think that given the vendor, you don''t need to worry about the quality. I know many do that with stones and items, but I personally do not feel the need. Just be sure you get insurance on it NOW! I''ve heard too many sad stories about things happening to rings being lost or stones getting whacked so hard that it is damaged only to have no way to replace it. Not trying to lecture, just giving friendly adivce.
2.8 mm is not too small or too large IMO. I think that is a good average size width and looks in great proportion to the stone.
Lastly you did awesome! Relax and have fun planning your proposal
