i feel like the stone looks a little small...maybe i just have no idea how a 1.29 ct stone should look..

It is gorgeous and looks big to me. I cannot see the uneven prong. BUT if you can and it bothers you then you should contact your vendor. They have an excellent reputation for customer service and I am sure they will fix it for you.

Gorgeous. I can't see any prong problem. And the carat size is great. I guess that's all in the eye of the beholder. I had a lousy .50 poorly cut round-something-other-than-brilliant in my first ering. Now I'm going to a 1 carat cushion and it's going to feel HUGE. I think 1.29 is awesome - not too big and not too small.

Job Well Done, Sir!

last one for now...its hard to get good pictures...they are too close up..i want to show you guys more of an actual size picture, but my camera is crap..

The stone size looks perfect!

question...i had BGD give me an appriasal that basically just verifies that its the diamond thats on the report and the retail value ...is it neccessary for me to bring it somewhere else to verify the stone is correct and the platinum and all that or do i just trust the vendors appraisal? is this a stupid question? hopefully no one attacks me for this..lol

cluelessguy, I''ve been following your story from finding the stone to getting the ring! Congratulations - it is really beautiful and I know she will love it.

thanks!! i hope i made the right decisions and i hope she loves it...im sure she will...

Oh, she will! Any girl would love that ring. She'll be very proud to wear it and thrilled with all your hard work and research. I know I have really appreciated my husband's genuine interest as I droned on and on at various times about diamonds and settings.

I hope you'll share the story of your proposal in AUGUST, if you can wait - and I understand how hard it would be to wait!

Its really beautiful clueless...Yes, the stone looks to be a 1.29 but on a guys finger its not going to look large.

Give it to her (when you''re ready) and see what she thinks! I''m sure she will love it!

thanks everyone...one other thing,...she likes bands not to thin..does this band seem wide or thick enough? i believe its 2.8 mm....i dont know if thats still thinner then she meant..but, oh well, she has no choice now! lol

I saw your other thread and went to this one first to reply. On your hands it even looks like a good size. A stone that size will not look small on a size 6 hand. I remember when mine was that size and even a 1 carat lookes substantial enough. So don''t worry about that.

If you are worried about the prongs (which I can''t see anything bad in your pics) then I would take it to be looked at by someone just in case and see if they agree. If it does bother you, contact the vendor and have them fix it. I also think that given the vendor, you don''t need to worry about the quality. I know many do that with stones and items, but I personally do not feel the need. Just be sure you get insurance on it NOW! I''ve heard too many sad stories about things happening to rings being lost or stones getting whacked so hard that it is damaged only to have no way to replace it. Not trying to lecture, just giving friendly adivce.

2.8 mm is not too small or too large IMO. I think that is a good average size width and looks in great proportion to the stone.

Lastly you did awesome! Relax and have fun planning your proposal

thanks for the advice....i actually just added it onto my homeowners policy this morning...so im all set with that...i feel like there are no appraisors close by me, i looked at the appraisors on here and they are all a hassle to get to..i guess i have the option of going to a jeweler to have a look at the ring and the report and do a little appraisal also, but i feel like they try and bash it to try and get you to buy from them..probably not even worth my time or money..i purchased a loupe on amazon (didnt come yet) i want to see if i can see the lazer inscription so maybe at least i will know 100% that i have the correct stone..although the inscription may be coverred by setting or prongs...also, i cant make out whats stamped inside the ring..it should say pt 950 right? so i need to make that out with the loupe also....i dont know how im gonna wait 2 months..im already trying to convince myself that i could do it earlier...but im trying to be strong..lol

I don''t see anything wrong or off about the prongs. I think this ring is gorgeous. The band width is perfect for that size stone ( IMO ) I think the ring looks perfect and she''s going to LOVE IT! I hope the next 2 months fly by for you.

It most likely should say PT950 on the inside of the ring. Most likely BG has some sort of stamp to show that it is their own. Kind of like on my ring it says "ROCK" for the name of the person I bought it from. I hope that makes sense.

Glad you have it on how homeowners already. I have a sad story of a friend who thought they were covered and weren''t. I''d hate to hear of it happening to anyone else.

I truly can''t remember what clarity your stone is, but if it is like VS1 or below you should be able to find the inclusions with the loupe with some look and match them to what''s plotted on the grading.

As for waiting? Eh why wait?
2.gif
Seriously if you really want to wait for the cruise, then I highly suggest locking it away for now. I don''t know if I could wait or not myself LOL

First, I can''t see anything wrong with the prongs and the setting is beautiful. It''s not set too low or too high, just right.

Second, 2.8mm is a nice size band, it will definitely not be too dainty if that''s what you''re worried about. A size 6 finger is pretty small anyway so it will look more substantial on her finger than yours.

Third, I LOVE that diamond! It definitely looks like a 1.29 ct to me and when it''s on her finger and not your man hands lol it will look even bigger!

She''s going to love it, you have no worries! Congrats, can''t wait to see pics of it on her hand
