thank you, the setting is by a firm called saturn jewels in NYC - their workmanship seems very good and they specialise in antique settings

the setting was originally for an oval set sideways and they redesigned it

2 week turnaround time so i was pretty happy

the diamond is from whiteflash - very pleased with them also

all in all I have been very pleased with the whole ring buying experience (apart from the dent to the wallet

reading pricescope for a few momths made things so much better!!!

its actually for my fianee to be (i hope!)

i hope she likes it - she picked out the setting, i did the rest

i'm getting to be a dab hand at this camera lark.....

the radiant is a H/VS2

from gemappraisers

Cut: Radiant
Weight: 2.02 carats
Table % 65 Grade: 1A
Crown Height % 12.6 Grade: 1A
Girdle Thickness Thin to Medium Grade: 1A
Total Depth % 61.8 Grade: 1A
Polish / Symmetry Excellent Grade: 1A * Not a primary determining factor.

Final Grade: 1A

in some lights there is a bit of warmth in the colour, but the additional waiting for a similar cut and the extra $$$ meant this was the way to go...

hmmm, the photo taken now looks a lot less 'warm' than the one i took last night....

What a beautiful ring!!! I am radiant obsessed!

I am hoping to get mine in a few months! Still searching though. Do you have a pic of the ring on your finger? Just want to get a scale. Pretty please. Thanks!

doesn't actually fit on my finger

Oh my you have gorgeous taste!! Beautiful ring, may your fiancee wear it in health and love! Congrats to you, a little early!

And...the all important question, does Saturn jewelers have a web site?

win

saturn doesn't have a website - they only sell through dealers and they don't advertise

i saw the setting orignally in a local jewellers and thought the guy was overcharging - after doing some detective work i managed to get hold of the designers who told me thre true retail prive (500 less) and gave me contact details for another of their stockists who gave me a great deal

we looked at tacori and loads of different other designers but some (especially some of the tacori prices) seemed very sparkly but a bit cumbersome - trading off bling bling for elegance

the firm i bought from in the end also sells tacori and the other major brands and if anyone is looking for a tacori piece and knows the exact model number - you can get a great deal - about 30% less than what bill barnes are selling for etc

Thanks AR!, it was worth a shot! I'm not much for going into the city, but I tell you that ring is drop dead gorgeous!

BEUATIFUL! I'm not an antique fan (squares, yes) but that ring is stunning!!! Enjoy!!! And don't get too annoyed when EVERYONE who passes by wnats a gander...
love.gif

many thanks all of you - your comments are appreciated, i'm sure gfriend will feel the same way....

YAAAAAAAYYY FOR RADIANTS!!!! I think they are the most beautiful cut, out of all the different styles.

Yours is gorgeous....and from the pictures, it looks like an F color.....doesn't look warm at all. The setting helps bring out the "whiteness" of the stone.

Congratulations! Be sure to come back and tell us how the proposal went!

Best of luck to you!

Absolutely beautiful!!!
appl.gif
Do you have any idea how or when you will propose? Also, did you get the diamond from gemappraisors first, then take it to Saturn in NYC for them to set it?
