I was going to post pictures yesterday, but it was snowy and dark

. It wasn''t much better today, but I had my nails done, so I figured I might as well...so here are a few blurry ones. I hope to get some sharper clearer ones soon. My camera works much better in bright natural light.

Thanks a bunch, Maxine. I was worried that at .53 carats and J color, y''all might not like it. But I LOVE it. Now I can''t decide which of my rings I like best! Well, of course today it''s THIS one because it the new baby...lol. But I''ve got more rings on the way...

sjz...some of your shots are coming out clear so what are you doing differently from one to the other? try to take stock of this as you snap...it will become clearer as time goes on what your camera does and does not like.

sometimes when i have my camera too close to the stone it blurs and won''t take macro. try pulling the camera away a bit.

also sometimes when i am too far from an item , the camera focuses on something else in the picture other than the ring or diamond.

for good DIAMOND pictures, try taking a pic with the loupe jammed up against the lens of the camera and macro setting on.

i just played around for HOURS with my camera initially to find out what works best for it and pictures...

good luck!

Lovely. I have some pics that come out great and other rings I just cant get a decent shot. I can''t figure out why. But your ring is lovely. Enjoy.

Well, for starters I''ve got my six year old son hanging around my neck while I''m trying to take pics. My nosey cat is also trying her best to get in the shot. It''s hard to focus with all that going on around me...lol. I''ll try it with the loupe, too. That might help. I''m trying to get too close, and my auto focus can''t do the job I guess.

I always get much better pics in daylight. Overhead lighting always messes me up somehow. I wish I could get a really good shot of the colors coming out of the stone.

Practicing with the loupe

Try to get in a situation where you don''t need flash....that just gives you, well, a flash of light instead of detail...! It realyy looks great, though!!

I actually don''t have the flash on. The first couple of pictures that I shot had the flash, and all I got was a white blob. I didn''t post those, obviously

Thanks on the compliments on both my ring and my nails. Alas...the nails won''t last for long. In a couple of weeks I start rehearsal again (I''m playing in a pit orchestra for a theatrical production) and I can''t stand the long nails when I have to practice for hours. But I am enjoying them while they last. Good news is, I can wear as many rings as I want when I play. As long as they aren''t too big or bulky, rings don''t bother me.

I actually don''t think it''s my camera or my picture taking abilities. I''m pretty much doing the same thing with each picture. When I review them on the camera before I save them, they look clear. When I loaded them on the computer, they looked clear on my monitor. They only looked blurred after I posted them here for some reason. Most of them look much bigger and blown up by the time they are posted here, too. Much bigger than they looked before I uploaded them on to the forum. Maybe I''m doing something wrong when I post them here??? Has any one else had that problem?

those last few looked much better!! i love using the loupe...try to catch the arrows with the loupe as well.

sometimes it's hard for me to see what the viewfinder is looking at, honestly (and this sounds insane but it's true), i take about 75 pictures and get about 4 good ones. i already have about 300 pictures of my new diamond/ring from this last week and i posted what...about 10? it really is hit or miss sometimes. sometimes i take the same picture over and over and just move the camera slightly up or down or right or left in case that helps or changes the image. sometimes if i see sparkles i snap it right away. i always look at them on the camera and zoom in to the max to see if it was REALLY clear or if magnified means it's blurry. hard to see sometimes on the tiny screen!

then when i load them into my computer, i just use the slideshow and then write down the #s of the ones i like, open them in photoshop and blow them up to regular 100% size and see if they are blurry or clear, use the crop and resizing tools to get what i want out of the picture, and then collage them. it takes a bit of time but it's kind of fun, esp since i taught myself photoshop doing things like this and now i use it for work and other more productive things...hehe.

i wanted to say that possibly the reason they could be blurring, since you say they look fine on your screen until you upload them...is that sometimes when i resize the images, they don't come out as good as the 100% view does. i have to use photoshop, make sure the aspect ratio is locked and then i try not to resize too much, i use the cropping tool alot to get rid of sides of the photo etc that i don't need and just focus on the meat of the picture. but sometimes when i resize even using the same method time after time, the end result is not as crisp as the original image and sometimes it feels like the quality of the picture is less as well.

it's hard to say really...but i would just keep at it...your last few were much better...practice makes perfect when it comes to the diamond photography, and a good camera helps too. mine is just alright, this year i want to get a new Canon to replace my Sony digital...and hopefully that will open up all sorts of new photography avenues, not just for diamonds but I love snapping pictures of my flowers and the dog and all sorts of fun stuff!

It looks beautiful

And your nails are lovely. I love a classic French Manicure.
