Nuts...but in a good way (I guess!, haha).
This is long and drawn out--just an advance warning! I need to vent!
So for four years we''ve known we''re going to get married...for a couple years we''ve known we were going to get married after graduation, summer 2007...for over a year we''ve been looking at rings...this Christmas I went up with him and his father to visit their extended family in Pennsylvania. We visited the jewlers where his father got his mother''s ring...I tried on a beautiful emerald cut sapphire in a silver setting (among others)...gorgeous. Then we got back from that, spent a few weeks together...and then he took my parents out to supper and asked for their blessing. Well, they don''t know that I know that happened...and haven''t said a word to me. This is strange since the whole time we''ve been dating my parents have been adament that we have a job and live "in the real world" before he proposes. (In theory, I agree. I mean, we both will be done with school and have jobs by the time we get married, I will have been living on my own for a couple of years, and we both have savings built up to get us through the first while.) I mean, they have said absoutely no engagement or anything. So for them to be excited and agree to Joel just shocked the hell out of me.
So now Joel has told me that he''s going to propose sometime between now and May. I''ve weaseled out of him that it''s not this coming weekend, when he''s coming to visit. He says it will be soon "if things work out like they''re supposed to." Apparantly he''s chosen the ring. So my question to him was, you have the blessing, you have the ring, what''s the wait? (don''t we all feel that way?) He then says, "How long do you think it takes to have a ring made?" I don''t know if he was kidding or not. Part of the element of suprise is that he''s been trying to confuse me on what will happen and when it will happen.
All in all, I want to be suprised, I am just so damned impatient (and i want to know when to spend the $30 to get my nails done-haha)! I just wanted some empathy! Thanks girls!
