We stopped at the FedEx building today before heading out for my grad class (he tags along and helps drive for my long commute, what a guy!) and picked up the package containing the ring! MY ring, I should say!

He actually started unpacking it in the car while I was driving, which was making me nervous. Luckily Whiteflash packages are pretty, uhm, concealing about what''s actually inside, so there were many layers to get through to the actual bag containing the ring box.

I had to rush to class after we got to campus but he opened it and when I saw him on one of my breaks, he looked ridiculously happy/giddy. I think he actually almost wanted to propose right here and now, because he said he wanted me to see it but I said I thought I had to wait until the proposal and he said "Yeah..." but I was like, "I have to go sit in class for another two hours!"

Oh, and he said the ring was "cute." I was like, "Cute?" and he said it was smaller than he expected. I was like, "Well, we WERE looking at 1-carat stones for a while, hon..." but I''ve seen 1/2 carat solitaires recently and love the size, so I know what to expect. Silly man.

He also imitated how he thinks I will act when I see it, which was charming.

So, yay!! It''s going to happen really soon!!!

P.S. The crazy hand rash has also gone away and healed for the most part, so I''ll have a pretty left hand to show off.

I''m actually really surprisingly calm now that he has the ring. He told me that while I was in class, he looked at it a TON and felt really happy. He found me looking at rings online (of course! I can''t help it! My right hand will still be naked!

) and he actually said, "You know, I know why you look at them now. They''re really beautiful and the emotional part of it--wow. I understand why you like looking." It was nice to hear him sum it up like that.

He called me this morning and said he showed his grandma the ring (he was raised by his mom and grandmother predominantly and still lives with them while he''s in school) and she liked it! She really liked the white gold, I guess, and told him it was impressive.

He also showed her the specs, which I guess she was also impressed by. So nice to hear this 83-year-old who means so much to S and to me is happy with our decision. When S told her over the weekend that he''d ordered a ring, she was surprised that it was happening so soon, but she asked him some questions and seemed pleased. She also said she wouldn''t tell a soul, and would pretend to be surprised after hearing about it from S''s mom.
