So I was at SO''s this weekend for the holiday, and we had a nice weekend spending time together. We went to a cookout, took turns cooking food for one another at home, and watched a bunch of movies and did a lot of snuggling.

Anyways, we have been dating for 5 nearly five years, and I have probably been sending him picture of rings that I like for the past 2-3 years, because, you know, girls do things like that.

(and I decided years ago that I ONLY want a trillion e-ring!) I thought nothing of it recently when I sent him pictures of rings that I like, so imagine my SHOCK when I was at his house, and sitting in his Inbox was correspondence with a ring retailer! (No, I was not snooping, he left his email account up all weekend and it was staring me in the face!) We only recently (Read: May!) began to talk about marriage in any concrete fashion, and admittedly I have been the hold up (he says he has been ready for years!), but I am so surprised because we live 300 miles apart, and I am still in school. He was planning to move here, but just got a promotion and is not looking to leave his job. Maybe he is looking to buy now and will save it until the time is right, but I was just really excited/anxious/floored to see just how serious he really was about his "readiness". He was a bit tipsy this weekend one night, and he was saying all of the most sweet and sentimental things, I swear, if we weren''t in his messy bedroom in frumpy clothes, I would have SWORN that he was about to propose right there on the spot. Who doesn''t love a sentimental man! I hadn''t even put myself on the LIW list yet! Ha!

Anyway, now I have to avoid his email like the plague when I am at his house... I want to be surprised when the big day comes, and when the ring comes too!

I did, however, show him my dream setting, which he HATED, lol, but I want him to make the decision, so now I will leave well enough alone.

For all the snoopy girls out there, DON''T LOOK! I would rather not know, because now I am going to be scrutinizing EVERY situation, like my b-day in August, and our anniversary in Sept, and Thanksgiving, and X-mas and Valentine''s day, etc...

But I AM excited!

That is awesome! I am very happy for you! I do the dame thing with my bf - well, I used to when I thought there was hope...

But I love looking at rings and I would always email him different rings, etc. I think trillions are beautiful! I hope it turns out to be as beautiful and gorgeous as you want it! Do you like platinum, white gold, or yellow gold? Have you posted on here what type of setting you want? Could you post one/some here?

This is a thread where I posted some setting options.

I think I like the last setting best, (4th, scroll down) after going to the store and trying rings. I like simple better than fancy. I would be happy with a simple solitaire as well, esp with a nice eternity or half-pave band

. My absolute hands down favorite setting has NO good pictures. It is from jared, and is a criss-cross band with .50ct pave. It looks like 2 bands overlapping but not touching, then they blend to one. I had seen it online with a trillion setting, but didn''t save the photo

When I saw it in-store, I put it on my finger, and knew it was THE ONE! The picture online is AWFUL, so I don''t think SO will consider it as a serious option, but my heart skipped a beat when I found it.

Wow, very neat - thanks for the links. They are all beautiful and very unique (especially #3).
The 4th ring makes the diamond look like it has very sharp sides as opposed to the other settings where the diamond looks more cushiony. Do you know what I am saying? I think I like the first and second ones the best because I like the softer sides. Was your SO with you when you went into the store and tried it on? Maybe you should have him go down there with you if you feel that intune with it...you know what I mean? You know, just HAPPEN to pass by the store and just HAPPEN to coincidentally see it! He may also fall in love with it!

I actually do prefer the severe edges! I really like the first setting, but after trying a similar setting on, I realized that I don''t like a ring that is quite so bulky on the finger. I really like unique settings, which is why I liked the simple elegance of #3, but after looking at the settings in the store, I decided that #4 looked the most like "me", and would go very nicely with a matching wedding band. My favorite setting at Jared looks incredibly dainty and beautiful, but I think I want to let SO decided what to get. I can always "upgrade" to my Jared

SADLY this happened to me last night. There was a diamond on WF I''ve been drooling over. I sent the link to BF a few weeks ago, and checked the link to it last night because I wanted to see it again!! IT WAS GONE

I was so sad. I emailed him and was all, "omg omg mayday sos!"

I hope he got it. Doubt he did... but.. whoever DID get it.. is one lucky girl

I was looking at a Trillions, and I get the impression that they are not high demand... Store owners were telling me that they don't keep any in store because they would just sit for a year or more! So I am betting that he got it, I know already that he was corresponding with the retailer! *crosses fingers* It has been pretty hard to find a well cut trillion of my specifications!

It's so nervewracking to have so little control in this process... We send links, and cross our fingers, then check daily until there is nothing left to check! It's hard being a un-fianced girl sometimes!

I hope you underestimated your BF! Lot's of dust!!!

I am hoping he is getting the setting that I love from Jared. (sadly I do not have a picture) BUT, I will blissfully take I get, clearly! lol. I like fairy simple rings, so as long as he doesn''t try something crazy, I''m sure it will be perfect. I will be on cloud nine regardless!
