Hey Londongirl, I remember seeing your post a few months back, and saw that you had done a reset from your split shank... Do you want to share some pictures, profile and all? where you got it done at? are you super happy now?

Yes I was in turmoil because I really didn't like my split shank anymore but didn't know how my other half would react about me changing it. Well he was fine about it. I'm really not a 'bling' girl and prefer the more refined look so I took the plunge and had a simple setting made for me by a jeweller in Hatton Garden, London.

I really couldn't be happier. It's just a matter of personal choice and I'm sure some PS's would prefer the split shank but I've absolutely no regrets

I haven't got any pictures of my split shank setting but here's the reset ering.....(you can see my long fingers)

I''ve always loved split shanks but your new ring looks gorgeous. Very sleek

A very classic look. I''m sure you''ll be pleased with it for a long time. Congrats!!

I love the new look of your ering, as it is almost exactly like mine (mine is slightly smaller!) I like the simple cut and style of it and actually have not seen that many people that I know with it.

Thanks for the kind words ladies - I literally had sleepless nights when the new setting was being made but it turned out better than I hoped

In the UK, where I'm from, you tend to see more classic solitaire and plain bands but when I visits my relatives in the US I see more 'over the top' styles - I guess it's just a matter of personal taste but for me 'less is more' so the side stones had to go.

London what did you do with your lovely wedding band? Do you still have it?

I love your new setting. Maybe I am biased because I also have a simple solitaire though

I just think it showcases the diamond better whereas a more pave style ring makes the whole ring onto the star with the center stone being part of the ensemble.

I still have it in a box at the bottom of a draw, in my bedroom. I might try to sell it or just wear it occassionally as a RHR.

You've so right - that's exactly how I felt about my split shank. My centre stone looks WAY bigger now

. My other half was a little disappointed with the change at first but now he agrees that the new setting does look better
