New LIW here... I'll try to sum up my story into as few words as possible (yeah, right!)
I met my other half 3.5 years ago, we've been living together for 18 months. A little over a year ago at my brother's wedding, the boy's mom (I was so happy my brother invited her!) pulled him aside and asked what his timeline was. He said something about Christmas. He told me about this a few months later when he randomly brought up the topic of ring shopping (!!!!), after some additional prodding by his mom. So off we went, looking at rings and eventually falling in love with a Tacori setting.
Months passed. He brought it up a few times, saying something about possibly going back to buy the setting "next month." I said I didn't want any more to do with the process. He knew the setting I liked, and he knew I wanted a sapphire (I'd given several color references). I couldn't outright ask about the progress, because I wanted to be surprised. But I knew (like we women always KNOW) that he hadn't done anything.
So I spent my free time browsing PS, soaking up knowledge about colored stones. I found out about Andrew & Laura at Gemfix. One day a few months ago, I spotted it on their site. My stone! I contemplated hinting about it, somehow subtly suggesting that he browse the site, but I decided to opt for a more direct route - I told him this was it and we better snatch it up before someone else did. He agreed!
And there it sits, in our safe... while I wait... patiently.
