I went shopping today and, among other things, picked out a present for myself. A cute little Dooney and Bourke purse. Finally after all the holiday shopping and traffic (i live in Los Angeles) I get home and im looking at my new purse only to find out, they left the security tag on it!!!

Now im going to have to go back to the store and fight through traffic and lines AGAIN if I want to be able to actually use my new bag for the holidays.

Sorry to rant but im a little bummed out...
 
oh no! That''s rubbish and would really annoy me! Sorry to hear you have to back to the store.
 
I''m surprised that the alarm didn''t go off when you left the store with the security tag on. How annoying for you though!
 
Turn your bah humbug into a giddy thing. Call the manager and ask what he can do for your trouble.

You have not because you ask not. It isn''t going to hurt to ask. I think a discount for your trouble is in line here for the effort you are going to have to do to get through the traffic, parking, and lines on an employee error.

I would also say it is a present and presenting it with a tag would not be politically correct...it would look as if you stole it. And a return after the holiday is not an option. So you have to come in now. He could at least make sure you don''t have to wait...in a line. And meet you at the first wrap stand in the store.

It is a present, right? Make the call.

I hate it when that happens... and it''s happened more than once. Accidents happen, but the SAs should know their merchandise well enough to know what has the tags and what doesn''t.

I would not wait in line to have it taken off... I would just go up to the register with receipt in hand and ask them to remove it.

Gwyn, I hear you! Christmas Eve day, we got me a coat I''ve needed and wanted and we were waiting for it to be transferred from another store branch and didn''t think it would arrive in time for CHristmas. It arrived on Xmas Eve so we went to try it on, and decided it was the one and got it. I wanted to have it boxed and put under the tree but it took forEVER for the saleslady to do that so finally I told her to just give me the boxing material and I''d do it at home. I got home and around 5pm I decided to start boxing it only to find that she gave me two different sized box pieces and the bottom was too small. I got so annoyed and my husband couldn''t believe I would drive back to the shop (only a 10 minute drive from home) to get the box bottom but honestly, it would bug the crap out of me to see this half boxed present under the tree! So I went back, got my box, didn''t get mad at the lady since I knew she was stressed out, and ended up with a lovely wrapped goodie. I just kept reminding myself how lucky I was that I could afford to get such a lovely coat and that so many others dont have coats at all. That''s how I get myself through life''s annoying holiday snafus!

Hope yours turned out fine and you''re able to use your new bag!
