If you don''t mind my asking.....

How much are you spending/did you spend on your honeymoon, and where are you going? What all does/did it include?

I''m trying to shake myself out of airfare sticker shock. We''re looking into a Mediterranean cruise, and the airfare costs more per person than the cruise!

We just got back from our honeymoon and it was AMAZING! If not a bit pricey.... We used american miles for our airfare. However it cost 60,000 miles each for us to fly first class from LAX to Zihuatanejo. We stayed at a resort called La Casa Que Canta. http://www.lacasaquecanta.com/

It was the pricey part it was $625 a night (but they upgraded us to a private villa with our own butler and chef!) and that didnt include food and beverage other than the beer, soda and tequila in the room. All together including food/drink at the resort and the 10% gratuity on room, food and beverage it was around 4k for 4 nights/5 days.... Definately worth it though. I may post pics soon!

Ebree, I was looking into a cruise, too. We really want to go to Hawaii (yes, very cliche, but I''ve never been), but we want to go to the least touristy part of Kuaui (I swear I am spelling that wrong, and that kills me), so I was looking into like, 5 nights, 6 days, and airfare incl. for about 3000 (food not included). Most likely out of our reach, but then again, we have family who are travel agents, and some who have vacation homes out there, so who knows!

I''m planning our honeymoon in St. Kitts and Nevis (islands in the Eastern Caribbean). I have planned for 12 days and about $4,000. I wouldn''t be surprised if we end up spending $5,000. Our flights were $1,200, the villa is $1,000 for a week, about $500 for nights at other places and then you have all the activities and food and drinks. A catamaran trip can easily cost $300-400 for the day. I''m still not sure if we are going to rent a car or not, because the islands are very small.

WAH! I am so jealous. We don''t get to go on a honeymoon because so many people are coming over from Australia, that it would be horribly rude to just leave. But we will definitely do it on our one year anniversary (when we''ll probably need it!)

We''ve been on nice vacations at decently posh resorts which have costed us about 3K for just 4 nights, so I would be happy to spend about 10K on a honeymoon. I love to travel, so I hardly ever get sticker shock when it comes to trips...I know the memories are worth it. Of course, I have yet to book an Abercrombie and Kent vacation...I am sure I would go into massive sticker shock there! (and really, no matter how much money I had, I would never pay that kind of money for a tour...I am not a fan of tours in general. I''m a DIY girl!)

We''re doing a little one week mini-moon in Montreal. We also looked into the Mediterranean and hit the same roadblock. Our hotel suite for 5 nights is 900 CAD, the rental car will be about 250 USD, then food drink etc. Montreal is beautiful and has a very euro vibe. We''ll get back to Italy, just not this year!

Hrm... this is a good question. I don''t really know! We went to Kauai for a week, then Honolulu for a couple days. Our flights were pricey, I think around $1200-$1400 for the both of us (from the West Coast) including the interisland flight. but we stayed at IL''s timeshare in Kauai, and DH used hotel points for Honolulu, so we saved a lot on that. So besides the plane tix it was just food and fun stuff. Oh, we did splurge on the most expensive helicopter tour. I''d guess we spent under $3k total.

We thought about doing a cruise or the Caribbean, but the thought of flying across the count ry when Hawaii is so close to us... that sealed the deal. Plus I get very sea sick, and I didn''t want to spend part of my HM sick... so sad!! We really wanted a HM that was totally relaxing... so we nixed Europe and some other places we really want to go to - simply bc we were so *done* w/planning that we didnt want to plan a big trip where we''d want to see a lot of sights.

Crystal Cruiselines for Med cruises... call... crap I don''t have his information anymore. That''s not helpful is it? But you can get packages with the airfare included and they are REALLY REALLY fabulous. We were looking into it for our destination wedding cause my uncle and FSIL have both been and well... it''s apparently just the best cruiseline for the Med.

OOH, Msflutter, we''re going to Zihuatanejo too!! We looked at La Casa Que Canta, and it is GORGEOUS! But unfortunately after paying for much of our wedding, we couldn''t swing those prices. We are staying at Amuleto (www.amuleto.net), which I am so excited about! We traded off being right on the beach for a gorgeous cliffside view, so we''re happy with that

Definitely post photos please!

We are using 60,000 miles each to fly coach from LAX to Montevideo, Uruguay (where I was born) via Iguzu Falls in Brazil. In Iguzu we''re planning to stay at a BB for $50 a night X3. In Urguay, will mostly stay at my aunt''s summer beach house near Punta del Este--a resort town (approx. 8 days). Our last weekend, we are going to splurge and stay at the Conrad Hilton Casino (the nicest hotel in the area) for $350 a night. Without the miles gift from his mother and the mostly free accommodations, we probably wouldn''t be able to afford such a trip. We hope to have 2-3 thousand just to have fun with, but we are still saving.

We spent somewhere in the order of $3000-3300. That includes airfare from California to Florida, cruise on Princess to the W. Caribbean with a balcony cabin, and about $1000 in various charges on board the ship (yes, we splurged onboard... hey, we were on our honeymoon).

I love cruises. You get to visit lots of locations, only unpack once, and don''t have to worry about finding fancy food or entertainment.

We spent 2 weeks in Hawaii on 3 different islands and the total cost was about $7K. Our hotels (all VERY nice--Fairmount Kea Lani, Hapuna Beach Prince, Puipu Beach Resort), airfare from Washington DC, rental car and 2 inter-island flights cost $5K. It was fabulous!

we are staying at tikaye 2 days and ladera 3 days on st. lucia for right under $3k. this includes all taxes and insurance and transportation from the airport. we are using miles for airflight. i think it''s $1k for both of us together to fly there and back.

We are staying at the One and Only Palmilla in Cabo San Lucas on the Couples Sanctuary package, it includes:
7 Nights in a beach front terrace junior suite (including our own butler)
Breakfast and Lunch all 7 days
Dinner 5 of the 7 nights including a dinner for two on the beach
Couples 80 minute beach front massages
Pathway to Love spa experience for two (includes private yoga class, 80 min massage each, facial, private villa with rose petal bath)
Private H2 hummer transport from/to the airport
Private beach cove experience ( basically a giant, canopied bed on the beach all day in a private cove, aww yeah!)

We paid for our airfare separate but with all of the fees, taxes, resort charges, including airfare we are looking at around 12K. More extravagant than I was expecting to do for our honeymoon but with my FI"s medical residency we are not looking at any vacation time together for another year! Our rings and honeymoon are sure setting us back!

we went to petit st. vincent which is in the grenadines for 8 days and 7 nights. We also spent two nights in barbados. We had to purcahse airfare from the US-Barbados and then from Barbados - Union Island. All told it was about $6500.

Thanks for the info, everyone!

I signed up for this service where I'm emailed quotes on cruises I choose, and I've been getting some decently low quotes on this 12 day, 4 country Mediterranean cruise that looks amazing. With airfaire and excursions, it looks like the total will be anywhere from $4200-$4500 which is pretty reasonable for what it is. It's just...$4500. Gulp.

we went to disney.. I don''t even know what it cost overall.. FIL used some of his credit card points toward our airfare and hotel.. but I want to say that we could have gotten a package that included air, hotel and disney tickets and meals for like.. $2100 for two people..(5 nights & 5 days at disney) which I thought was super cheap. I am sure we spent way more than that booking it individually, but FIL wanted to help and didn''t really ask for my opinion on the matter.. he just booked it one day..

Haha, cruise compete?

That''s the one! Have you had experience with them?

My memory is a little hazy, but I''m pretty sure I got my cruise price through them. My travel agent was a part timer who did it for fun to make money for her own cruises so she took less commission than others. My memory is pretty bad, but I remember feeling quite good about Cruise Compete and I remember shutting down my request after finding that agent.

I was on Cruise Critic quite often and checked out another site that allowed you to pass on names of travel agents, but the timing and everything makes me pretty positive that I used Cruise Compete to get my trip.
