We''re stumped on the honeymoon. Srsly. Two hotels, same area, both by the ocean. We really love them both. I''m actually thinking of just staying 2 nights at both since they''re literally right next to each other, but we hate packing and unpacking and repacking, and 2 nights isn''t long enough to hang stuff up. So here''s the basic layout of them both, and you tell me which one you would choose and why.

Hotel 1 - http://tinyurl.com/l2rd6m. Scroll to the bottom of the screen where there''s a bunch of pictures of the Penthouse Suites. We''re looking at Penthouse 4. Suite is in a new wing just built in July. It has a balcony, and the room is pretty big, lovely furnishings but rather spartan (think European). Has a jacuzzi, but it''s in the bathroom so no good views from it. The main room has AMAZING views. The pool has a great view and a swim up bar. It comes with breakfast, lunch and free drinks until 7pm.

Hotel 2 - http://tinyurl.com/lzfy3y. We''re looking at the one at the top of the page which is the Jacuzzi Penthouse suites (more pictures are in the "Our Suites" section). Suite is not new but much more "cozy" (ie smaller). The room layout is really neat (one big room) and the furnishings are more "local", but no balcony. Room also has awesome views - jacuzzi is in the same room as the bed so views are available. The pool is a bust - small, no view, no bar. It comes with breakfast only, but the cost is $120 less than hotel 1.

Hotel 1, Hotel 2, or 2 nights in each? Halp.

I like the layout of Hotel 2 better, but I think I would go with Hotel 1...mostly for the balcony. I think it''s invaluable on any sort of vacation (ESPECIALLY your Honeymoon) to have at least a semi-private outdoor space.

And I don''t know about you and your FI, but my BF and I could do some pretty decent damage with lunch and drinks before 7...especially with a swim-up bar at the pool...so that $120/day may just be worth it!

My 0.02.

are you planning on staying more IN the hotel or will you be exploring?

personally, i''d go for hotel 2 because it''s cheaper and still decent looking. me & FI like to travel and engage in different activities that we will be spending more time out together than in the hotel room. (but of course there''s going to be 1-2 days during our HM that we''ll spend the whole day in our room

but generally, we''ll be out)

Have you checked reviews of both on Trip Advisor?

Personally, I would pick the second option, and spend the savings elsewhere.

Also, I would choose one hotel only, and would not change rooms (unless there is some other reason for doing so, like one hotel is an hour away from the other and you want to be closer to a different location) because changing hotels would just be a hassle and wouldn't be worth the effort, to me anyway.

They both look beautiful, btw!!

Gosh, I''m torn! Both have pluses for me. I''d probably rather not switch hotels after a few nights though, just because it is a pain to pack up my stuff and whatnot. I''d probably rather a nicer pool/view than a fancy room, although I know it''s a honeymoon and all, both rooms look quite nice to me! Let us know which you pick, my Dad has nothing but fabulous things to say about Costa Rica (he travels there often for business), so it''s definitely in the running for our own honeymoon!
