I'm having the hardest time finding the perfect honeymoon spot and hotel. We are looking in the Carribbean...somewhere not TOO tropical, that actually has other things to do besides just laying on the beach.

I was looking at Aruba since it's only a 4-5 hour non-stop trip from Houston and Aruba has a few Resort/Casino combos. I do want a little bit of the tropical feel where maybe our room opens out directly to the beach, or at least where the beach isn't a far walk away.

I'm really picky about wanting a more modern looking room with big comfy bed, white linens and comforter. I would also LOVE a place with an infinity pool. If anyone has any suggestions or ideas, please share!!

Oh and we will be registering for a honeymoon and I've found a couple of websites that accommodate that, but if anyone knows of the best one, that'd be helpful.

Honestly, you''re looking into going to the Caribbean, it''s tropical there. You can''t escape that. Fi and I love the Dominican Republic and we were just in St Kitts, St Maarten, and Puerto Rico in December. They were all awesome. I''ve heard that while aruba is lovely, it''s very expensive and unless you''re a certified scuba diver, there''s no a lot to do there other than lay on the beach...

I''m in the same position as you. We were originally thinking the Caribbean but now we''re not so sure. I have a post on hangout asking the same and after reading lots of replies, we''re now looking at Costa Rica, Belize, Hawaii and still glancing at the Caribbean. I''m just using tripadvisor as I prefer booking our holidays myself directly with the place-I love the hunt of a bargain.

I''m the same way. TripAdvisor is a lifesaver. I feel the Aruba would be best because of the whole resort/casino thing (we like to gamble). We would get some beach time in as well as some card action. I''m just not sure about the couple of places I''ve looked at.

Like I said, tropical is fine...I just don''t want a place that offers a beach and that''s it. I love shows and entertainment by the pool, etc. I even saw some places that didn''t have TVs! That''s just not our style. We like to wind down from a fun day with some TV or a movie.

Expenses aren''t too much of an issue since we''re registering for it, but I''m not wanting to spend 10 grand or anything.

If you want to get some action, you could also consider island hopping from Aruba to Curacao or Bonaire (if you''re into diving). You can stay several days on each island. Curacao is suppose to be a little bit more sightseeing friendly. Aruba has more beautiful nature, but it''s very US focused (mini Cancun is what some of my friends call it lol).

My fiance and I booked Sandals Whitehouse in Jamaica. We were very fond of the all inclusive idea:)

Hey Courtney,

DH and I are very similar to you--we like being on a beach, but we don''t like sitting on it all day long. Any trip we take has to include more than just sunbathing. Also, DH loves the ocean, but is terrified of going in over his head, so scuba and until we went to Hawaii last week, even snorkeling was out.

We love Aruba. We''ve gone a couple of times because we know that the beaches are fantastic, there''s a plethora of resorts to choose from, the food is good and there are several things to do there. The bus system there is really easy to use, so you can quickly go downtown from Palm Beach (where the resorts are). We went 4-wheeling, did the submarine thing, horseback riding, golfed, hiked, etc. I think it''s perfect for a 5- 6 day trip and it always seems to be cheaper than the other Caribbean islands.

When we were deciding on a honeymoon I had narrowed it down to Hawaii, south of Cancun, Mexico and the Caribbean. Based on our personalities our travel agent suggested that if we were going to do the Caribbean, Grenada and St. Lucia have the most activities outside of water sports. Ziplining, 4-wheeling, etc. A friend of mine who went to Mexico for 10 days said there was so much to do around Cancun that they couldn''t fit everything in--also, all of the activities were included in the price of the resort and it''s much, much cheaper to do that.

After going to the Caribbean for years and then going to Hawaii it quickly became obvious that Hawaii is perfect for a couple who likes the water, but wants to do more. We stayed for 10 days and did multiple activities each day and still couldn''t fit everything in. I highly recommend talking with a travel agent about the things you love to do, they''re great at knowing what the best fit will be!
