I looked my invites over and over and spent hours searching for the right words, and just now I realize I overlooked the obvious! My RSVP cards say:

Kindly repspond on or before
May 20, 2008
M____________
__ (food option 1)
__ (food option 2)
__ (vegetarian)

I completely forgot a ___Sorry, cannot attend AAAAAAAAGGGGGGGGGGHHHH
My only hope is that because I have not yet approved the actual invite then maybe just MAYBE they didn''t make the RSVP cards yet since the rest of my order is still being proofed?!?! Have to wait until Monday to find out

So if I can''t change it, how stupid will that look???

i don''t think it''ll look stupid, but it could cause confusion, as in, people who don''t plan to attend may think they need not respond in any way, so it may make things a bit more difficult for you. absolute worst if you can''t get them to fix it in time, you could either print some off yourself or just send them as is and get help from your bridal party to make any last minute calls to those you haven''t heard from yet. i wouldn''t worry about it too much!

I''d like to hope that if you can''t change it, if people who can''t attend are unsure what to do, they will contact you or someone to ask.

I''m stuck in a very similar situation. We ran out of room on our rsvp and and needed the food option, so ours ended up being

The problem is, there was no room for a line for them to put their name if they are not attending, so we are REALLY relying on number the backs and keeping track that way. I''m also really hoping people understand to put their names, and not just a number next to each food line, because our reception is REALLY picky and we need to know what EACH person is having! I really hope people can figure it out!

Oy! Sabine, you brought up a very good point. Besides a spot for those who can''t attend, how do you get them to indicate which person wants which plate? I have to put stickers or something on their seating cards to let the waitstaff know what they ordered. So if a couple puts an "X" on each line I don''t know which person gets which plate. Can anyone give me tips on how you handled it??

winston26 - easy to say, not so easy to do...but don''t worry about it looking "stupid". When people do contact you because they''re not sure what they should do (like Sabine said) you can even make a little joke or something and say "oh, no, you don''t have an option to not come to my wedding! we''d love to have you there!" or something like that. and then if you choose to you could explain it was an oversight, but I wouldn''t make a big thing out of it.

We didn''t think of that and our invitations are ready to be mailed out in the next few weeks (we''re planning on sending them out around May 1st or so). Maybe the guests (for your wedding and mine) will put their initials next to the entree that they want. I think that''s what I''d do if I were a guest and had thought that through.

I''m sorry I can''t give you any tips but know that you''re not alone.

That''s cute!

The order wasn''t printed yet so they let me still change it. PHEW!! They wait until all pieces are approved before they print any of it.
I still will have the issue of not knowing who wants which plate though. But Zoe, everyone so far is telling me they''ve had to switch plates at weddings before and it was no big deal. They just are switching with their spouse/guest and said it''s no big deal. Just so you know....

We had that EXACT situation. We did ours the same way except for one change:

Unable to attend (line)

We had the unable to attend line instead of a "total attending line" because that way we could just add up how many people were attending. I was really afraid people wouldn''t understand what to do, but everyone put his/her name on the correct line (well everyone who sent it back anyway)

Instead of doing stickers on place cards, we found pretty 3 dimensional tokens to put on each one (with a hot glue gun).

For Chicken, we had little calla lillies (that we found at Michael''s craft store)
For Beef we had little red roses (that we found in the scrap book section)
For Salmon we found these pretty ivory ribbons with black sequins
And For kids we found beautiful sparkling "diamonds"

That was all my mom''s doing. At first I thought it would be cheesy, but it turned out looking VERY polished.
