We've all been sick..so last night everyone was in bed by 9:30pm. My husband set the alarm for 11:30 so we could catch the ball dropping.
WELL...never heard the alarm and my husband wakes me at 2am saying..kiss me..we missed the damn ball..happy new yrs. We LOL'd and then fell back to sleep. Gotta love the affects of cold meds! :naughty:

Ahh feel better!

We spent it on the couch snuggled up with the pups watching Andy Cooper :naughty: and Kathy Griffin. It's great being together for a new year that will be a complete adventure. We're moving back to Buffalo. I'll be starting college at 26. I finally feel like I'll be an adult.

Atroop, sorry you are sick, yuck! We had the kids over and were playing games all night, had a great time and did not even notice it was midnight until a few of our phones were dinging from texts coming in, we had a good time. Davi, exciting for this new phase in your life! What will you be when you grow up?

At a formal evening wedding, with a huge reception afterwards. The bride and groom are competition-level ballroom dance instructors, so the reception was held at a dance studio. As you can imagine, the bride and groom danced their way in and danced their love for one another for all to see. I was lovely. Great drinks, food, and excellent live band (with the groom's father - who is a dear friend, and other friends of mine - in the band). A very VERY nice evening!

Black tie dinner and party with a cute beau... watched the city fireworks and toasted at midnight from the rooftop. Lovely, but staying out until 5am was probably a poor choice.

lol i spent it with my 13 year old son playing 500 rummy, hubby was tired and went to bed at 9:00

Got Lily to sleep about 11:30. Opened some wine, through out said wine, kissed DH at midnight, went to bed with kindle and psp.

We watched "Inglorious Bastards" on TV, with a happy new year toast at midnight (we split an individual bottle of wine which worked perfect in champagne glasses). I know :snore: We are such a wild and crazy couple.

We watched Splice and then Inception.
Kids played on the computers and we had a screen up so my older couldn't see the movie (and he had earphones on)
Then at midnight, we lit off fireworks. We were the hit of the neighborhood. I guess people were cheering whenever one went off. I hid right inside the door b/c I was afraid someone was going to become mad at us. lol

On the couch, with a fire going in the fireplace. We read our Kindles, watched tv, and played some Wii. It was pretty fantastic!

Cooked a lovely dinner with DH and the in-laws, then watched "In the Loop" (hilarious movie!), then watched the fireworks over the bay and had a glass of champagne. Went to bed at 12:30. A nice, quiet evening.

I work on NYE every year -- it's a good night to work in general - I work in a restaurant and we serve dinner and a show with a musical performer. People are in a good mood mostly, and they're usually pretty drunk, but in a fun way.

One year out of the last 10 I DIDN'T work, and went out instead. It sucked. I spent a lot of money and was generally annoyed by all the drunk people - I've been working NYE ever since. Now it's out of necessity, but I still prefer working to going out. the only thing that is difficult is that we don't usually get out of work until 2:30 a.m. and we were back in for brunch today at 9 a.m. I feel a little loopy right now :twirl: :twirl: :twirl:

ETA: i do get to kiss my husband at midnight though, because he works right down the street from me and runs half a block for the midnight count down each year. Then he runs right back to work - he's such a sweet guy

We've all got H1N1 so it was spent on the sofa watching TV... DH who is on the mend did make a nice supper though!

My brother spent NYE at a friend's dinner party during the course of which TWO long-term couples managed to split up very acrimoniously and publically... he said it was rather surreal - he and his wife just sat and dispensed shoulders and comforting words apparently!

We went out with another couple to a local country club for dinner and dancing. We've been spending NYE with this couple, our closest friends, since hub and I first got together, but we usually all order takeout and stay home. This year we decided to get dressed up and go out, and we had a ball.

We watched "The Curious Case of Benjamin Button" on Netflix and I fell asleep before midnight.

We had a quiet night in. Started with some Caviar, and shrimp. Then hubby grilled lamb chops and I made steamed broccoli and new potatoes. It was heaven. Today we went with friends to our club that has a huge open house / brunch with music etc... I ate way tooo much. :lickout:

Friends who lived a few blocks away held a masquerade party. Everyone brought a mask, but nobody wore them! We were so tired we left at 1am, went home, and fell right asleep. The 30s are hitting me hard. :(sad

Dinner and dancing -- sounds like fun!

We stayed in, had Chinese food, and watched "Lost." I went to bed around 10:00 and my husband played hockey on his XBox. Romantic, huh?

I hope you guys get to feeling better Atroop and Pandora! We're sloooowly getting over what we all have, after 2 rounds of antibiotics. I can finally sleep lying down, tho JD's still in the recliner as Trapper spends most of the night crying and coughing, so is in bed w/me. I spent the night watching La Femme Nikita dvd's and eating popcorn and chocolate. JD worked. He did wake me up when he came home to wish me a happy 11th dating anniversary tho, so that was nice.

Thanks...you guys too. Sounds like we all have the same thing. Bronchitis hit my house hard. All congested, coughs that get worse at night, stuffy nose, miserable feeling, ect. I'm the last to get it and am finally not coughing up a lung..let's see tonight.

FEEL BETTER EVERYONE...it's going around :((

Thanks so much!!

Pandora and Atroop, hope you are feeling better! Myself, my DH, and my DS, were all sick. Coughing, congestion, sore throats. Must be something viral because we all got it together.

At fiances house with his brothers and a bunch of their friends! It was a good time! Although we stayed up till 7 am :errrr:

I need a 24 hour thread. And not in a crazy, or good way. :blackeye:

Sat at home and watched Lord of the Rings: Two Towers again. We have a 22 month old and I am pregnant, so it was a fun night in for us  I went to bed at 10:30 pm and DH drank a bottle of wine by himself 8)

Maybe Ella could do one for tonight?? Or post in the random thought thread??

Sounds like you are going through a rough time. Big hugs.. We will be here for you, so vent away.

I love the 24 hour threads, I wish there was one perhaps twice a month??

We were watching tv in bed and DH fell asleep! I didn't even get a good-nite or kiss or anything. I was kinda mad! He left
for work this morning and called me and apologized. The man is so darn cute, I just can't help but forgive him. He had a tough
day at work the day before and was up a lot at night. He promised to make it up to me when he comes home tomorrow.

At work getting out Saturday's paper. We had really early deadlines Christmas eve but regular ones for New Year's eve, go figure.
