Ok, I''ve officially been in mommy mode long enough to fog my former fashionista brain.

I did some retail therapy the other night, and bought a gorgeous pair of black, knee-high, high heel (not too high), suede boots. Mmmmm...love them. Got them to replace my old black boots that I tired of after 5 years & gave to Goodwill.

Ok...what the heck do I wear them with now? Over my jeans? (I need some skinny jeans, but skinny jeans look BAD on me, I am "bootylicious" so a flare leg or bootcut is more flattering on me).

If I wear them with a skirt, what is a good casual skirt to wear them with? (I don''t work per se...so I don''t want tailored stuff).

My mom got me the Audrey Hepburn pant from the Gap for my birthday (skinny pants...ugh...make my legs look short & butt big) can I wear them over that? Black boots over black pants?

Do I need to go shopping now? Do I have you guy''s permission? LOL!

hehehe...i bought two pairs of tall boots last week. i have 2 pairs of those short tailored banana republic pants that cut off right above the knee so tall boots are perfect for them. i am wearing the pants and heels and a fitted sweater to an engagement party today so they are versatile. anyway...i did try on some awesome skinny jeans at loehmanns the other day but man did i look like a freak with my hips and butt and then twigs for legs. i would only buy and wear the skinnies if i was doing the boots over them. but you have to have the right boots for them, aka the ones that are larger so the jeans fit nicely inside and don''t scrunch. the boots should scrunch or have some sort of detailing...that''s what i have seen that looks the best. i don''t think either of the ones i bought would work for jean layering.

flared or rough edged denim skirt at knee would be cute with boots...you shuold still have okay weather in oregon for that right? or a winter tailored skirt in black or gray flannel is a nice staple. but really tall boots for me are limited...there''s only a few ways to wear them. oh i did find this awesome tweed nubby JCrew miniskirt i had from a few years ago that fits nicely now that looks SUPER cute with my tall boots but not sure where i''d wear it...it looks great on me but i am 31 and married, where do i wear a miniskirt and boots now?! haha.

DG, Mara brings up a good point. If you''re a mom and want to be fashionable but be comfortable, too, wearing boots with short pants, like gauchos, may be the way to go. That way, you don''t have to worry about tucking into jeans, etc. I can''t wear the skinny jeans either and have to wear boot cut for my figure. You can get jean gauchos or I even found two pairs of cotton twill gauchos which are kind of thick. But there are also the cotton jersey gauchos (if you like those) or I''m sure you could find some kind of thicker, wintry fabric in a gaucho style.

denim skirt maybe?

I think a knee length skirt would look lovely with tall boots. I do this all the time in the fall and I always get compliments.

I just bought a black and brown pair of knee high boots. I have a denim skirt that hits at my knee, new denim gauchos (on sale from Ann Taylor), corduroy cuffed capris, and a couple skirts that are midcalf length (the skirt will cover the tops of the boots) that I''m going to wear mine with. I have one pair of skinny jeans that I may try tucking but since the boots fit my calves well, the jeans may not fit in the boots. I think knee high boots are a great staple to have.

I'm a momma of an 8 and 5 year olds....

I bought my boots last year...after months of envying all the other girls out there wearing them and looking so cute! So, I finally got brave and decided to give it a try! It takes a few times of wearing them to get used to it...but trust me, you'll love them!

I wear my knee high boots with skirts of all kinds, but mostly with gaucho pants....both jean ones, and dress black ones...

it looks great!!!!

One of my FAVORITE looks is a knee length dark wash denim skirt paired with knee high boots. As a stay at home mom, it makes me feel more dressed up but stylish without being uncomfortable or overly dressed.

I love tall boots (I need some new ones!) with crop pants, too. I''m mostly a SAHM, too, with a couple days a week in a VERY casual office, but I''m anti-frump. I don''t even go for groceries without being at least sort of cute, but the balance between frump and overdressed is a tough one for me.

Jetmal: I have about 3 pairs of high boots in my closet, but I haven''t worn black ones in about 2 years (needed a new pair --i have chocolate brown suede that i wear with a few different skirts) so I''m super comfortable wearing them, my problem is, since I last wore a pair of high black boots, those darned skinny pants came in, as well as the short pants (really not flattering for my, ahem, athletic, round booty body) , so I have no idea what to pair them with.

I went shopping all day today for a denim skirt (in my haste, I gave my denim skirt to goodwill on accident...grrrrrr) and came home with 2 sweaters, a pair of yoga pants, and a grey corduroy mini for me, shoes, sweats and tees for my baby boy, but no denim skirt.

I can''t wear gaucho''s either. They make me look like a square. (I''m not heavy, but I''m not my thinnest --still carting around extra baby weight) and I''m only 5''5", with a long torso, so short pants make me look squatty.

I was able to wear the longer shorts this summer, but I had on sky high chunky platforms for length.

I do have two black skirts, but they just are dressier...so great for going out with the hubby or the girls, but not so much for daytime.

I think I want a knee length denim skirt (in a dark wash) and a nubby tweed knee length skirt. Maybe in black & neutrals tweed? If I could get down a size, I have about 3 skirts that would fit the bill..

durned this baby weight. I''m going jogging tomorrow.
