Hello All!

I recently got my e-ring (platinum 4 prong with pave) in and before I propose I just wanted how some of you clean your e-rings that have pave stones and how often? I've read other threads which most people recommend not to use a ultrasonic due to increasing risk for losing a stone. How about the steamer thing? what is it called? could that also increase the risk?

Your thoughts/opinions would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks!

There's always going to be a risk of lost stones with pave, even without an ultrasonic. For me the results of using an u/s machine outweigh the risk of losing a stone.

I soak mine in dawn+water then use a baby tooth brush to scrub off any grime. I finish it off with the steamer (jewel jet). I'm considering an ultrasonic.. My pave was done well and I like the idea of just dropping my ring in a machine for a few minutes instead of the manual work.. but that's the lazy side of me. I'm sure my fiance would be mortified.. :?

I drop mine is a jar of Gemcare jewelry cleaner overnight and brush with a little toothbrush in the morning. After a rinse, I
place it on a soft cleaning cloth and give it a blast with my hairdryer. I have to wait a minute for it to cool, but it works really
well. It makes the metal shinier too.

I use dish soap and a baby toothbrush and scrub lightly... I also do not put on lotion, do dishes, or any other messy things with my rings on. It cuts down on the amount of grime that gets under the stones and prongs...

Same here .. dip it in cleaning liquid and use a tooth brush. I also have a steam cleaner and a ultrasonic cleaner but I am too lazy to take them out and use them.

I have a micropave e-ring seting and I'm scared to put it in my ultrasonic cleaner. I use a jewelry cleaning solution with a baby toothbrush and then blow dry it. It doesn't get it as clean as the jeweler does when they clean it. I'm considering getting a steam cleaner?

Also could using a air duster like Endust that is used for computer cleaning be safe? or could the high pressure air be too much? Also the pave on the ring has shared prongs.

Where can I buy a Jewel Jet in the store?

You can even get Jewel Jet on ebay. I have to warn you though .. it is huge and really ugly. It is a pain in the butt to use. I have used mine once in the two years I have owned it.

I actually just purchased the Jewel Jet on ebay a few hours ago...I know it's pretty big and ugly but it will be in hiding unless being used...she's a little OCDish in terms of cleaning things so I don't think she will mine...after reading multiple cleaning threads on PS I will just suggest her to keep it real simple...

A soft toothbrush and either dawn soap or windex and use the Jewel Jet maybe once a week or every couple of weeks or so....

Thanks for the replies and thanks PS for your search engine!
