How do you find sample sales?? NY/CT/NJ

I just got engaged, and started looking for a dress because everyone''s saying that it takes like a year to get it done. I''m not looking to spend too much money, and have always heard about sample sales. I tried to search for them on google, but no luck. Is the sample sale "season" over? how do I found out what bouquets have sample sales without having to call individual stores? Did Macy''s have their sample sale already? Thanks for the help.

Hi Iceplum - I would suggest you check out Top Button at www.topbutton.com and Daily Candy at www.dailycandy.com. You can search the site for sample sales and if you sign up for an email alert, you can weekly emails which provide you with the sample sales happening that week in the city. It''s great!

ETA: I just checked the site and they have 14 pahes of "mega markdowns" that are priced in the hundreds, not thousands of dollars.

topbutton and daily candy are the BEST websites for sample sales. also, i have gotten emails from theknot too, about kleinfeld''s sales but they aren''t usually any good unless you get there right when it opens.

are you roughly a size 4-6 in everyday clothes? if so, you are probably an 8-10 in bridal sizes, which are the most common sizes stores have for samples, and you should have a pretty easy time at the sample sales.

the sample sales were SO FUN to go to, but you really have to be patient. i probably went to 20 sales. don''t be afraid to go to the expensive boutiques sales, Amsale had a pretty good selection and so did mark ingram bridal atelier. i think the sample sales are pretty much over for now though, they will start up again in may/june/july. if you can wait until next december, there are TONS of major sales around the holidays. vera wang, saks, bergdorfs, amsale, everything.

Definitely agree with topbutton and daily candy. I get emails from them all the time about sample sales and am always jealous that I''m not living in the US.
