For all of you who have had to order your rings, how do you handle the wait between ordering and receiving?

I went to a special event at a local jeweler's today. They brought in a bunch of designs they don't normally carry for this event. I found a wedding band that would work with my e-ring, using a 2mm band as a guard or spacer between my e-ring and the diamond band. However, it was only a sample and the ring has to be ordered from the manufacturer in NYC. It is going to take about 4 weeks to get it delivered.

The ring is a half-eternity, bar-set band with 14 three-point diamonds. I wanted a full-eternity, but there is always an upgrade for that.

I can't find a picture of anything similar online, but I will keep looking. The pictures I see online all have ridged sides (like the picture below) and mine is smooth on the sides where the diamond sits. Imagine the side being smooth and scooped beneath each diamond.

*twitches* *shakes*

what do you mean, handle?

*twitches harder*

Really, I just nag the man for shipping details till it shows up and I can do the happy dance in the house. He''s learning to not keep it a surprise anymore because I drive him absolutely off the rocker till things show up.

argh....the wait......it''s like a cruel initiation!! my last jewelry piece took 6 weeks to arrive from the day i ordered it. the jeweler said it would be 4-6.....i marked each week off on the calendar, and added another two weeks.....just in case. i think convincing myself that it was going to take longer actually helped!
i hope the time passes quickly for you!!! .......can''t wait to see it!

The waiting is the hardest part.

(Someone should make that a song.

I begged in the store and they said maybe it would only take 3 weeks since we are not so far from NYC. I told them it was for our anniversary, which is April 1st.

The designer''s name is Rosen Block Designs but they don''t have a picture of my ring on their website. Darn them!

Nyssa I think I know the design you are speaking of, or something similar to it. I like that look alot...

Waiting is definitely the hardest part!! We had to wait a full month and a half for our e-ring to be created, and he hadn''t proposed yet..so I had double waiting, for the e-ring to be done and then the proposal! I told him..don''t you dare make me wait or I will likely expire!! Turns out the day the ring was done he went and picked it up and then we went out that nite and he proposed. Thank GOD!

Patience is not my strong suit!

I don''t think I could wait 6 weeks. If it wasn''t for the fact that I have been looking for a band to match my e-ring for the past 3 months without success, I probably would have passed on the ring when I found out it would be a 4 week wait.

I''m not a patient person when it comes to waiting for things I want now.

That''s one of the reasons I wouldn''t consider a custom band. Most every jeweler''s first response when looking at my e-ring was "have a custom band made" but I didn''t want to be without my e-ring and I didn''t want to wait 6-8 weeks without any ring. I knew I would find something eventually...and I did.

It is very hard! I tried not to think about it. Otherwise, the minutes, hours and days seemed to go on forever!! It will be well worth the wait.

I totally know what you mean. Until a couple of months ago I had no idea when my boyfriend was planning on proposing, and I was rather upset because I think it it unfair that these decisions are traditionally left for men to make. I told him how I felt, and he decided to tell me that he wanted to be engaged the first weekend of spring. He involved me in looking for the diamond, he bought what I liked, and a week ago we ordered a setting. The wait is driving me crazy - I have been up until the wee hours of the morning on a consistent basis looking at rings online and imagining what mine will look like. Every couple of hours I take the diamond out of its box to look at it. I feel so stressed out! I am glad that he is making an effor to get what I want, but this puts so much pressure on me. What if I don''t like it? What if he doesn''t like it? The jeweler said that he would make the setting in about a week, so we should be getting it soon, but now I am starting to think that I would rather wait for the setting than have the ring in the house and not be able to wear it for a couple of weeks.

I will definitely post pics once I get my band. I have been driving myself nuts trying to find a picture of the ring online. I can''t find anything like it.

The band is actually part of a bridal set, but I can''t find a picture of the set either. I tried it on just for the heck of it after I decided not to get a thicker, more ornate, eternity band because it took up too much of my finger and detracted somewhat from my e-ring.

I was truly shocked when this band was almost perfect, with just a tiny bit of space between the rings. Especially after having tried on so many rings at so many stores. A 2mm band filled up the space without taking up too much of my finger. I would prefer a 1mm spacer band but they are impossible to find.

I''m paying a bit more than I wanted for my ring, but I am sure it will be worth it.

I did call the jeweler back today and ask for the ring to be a 1/4 size larger because I was worried about it being too tight with the 3 rings stacked together. I hope it won''t cause the ring to spin, since it is a half-eternity.

Sorry to babble on so much. I''m just excited and impatient.

It''s going on 9 weeks since I dropped my e-ring off to get a new setting made.

One failed product, and one new failed wax later, I''m going bonkers. I HATE waiting, especially for something that should have been done already.

I just bought myself a fakey CZ e-ring yesterday to lessen the pain. It''s helping a little.

I hope you get your ring done soon. Nine weeks must be awful!

I found a picture that is very similar to mine, with 14 diamonds in the band. This one is a set, but then mine was the band to a set too.

Yea that''s a bummer too. Such a pretty design though. That''s going to be nice when they get it right.

I have news!!!

I spoke with the jeweler yesterday. Although they thought they would definitely have my ring by April 1 (our 5th wedding anniversary) and had requested a priority list placement with a delivery date of March 30, my ring had not arrived yet.

However, they called New York and found out that the ring is completed and will be shipped via overnight delivery on Monday. It will arrive sometime Tuesday and the jeweler will call me at work so I can pick it up right after I get off work!

I am so excited, yet disappointed that the original delivery date was not kept so we could celebrate our anniversary with the ring. I have not yet given my husband his new ring and am now going to hold off until I get mine so we can exchange them together.

I will post pictures in a few days.

Less than 24 hours now...and counting down.

Oh, the exquisite AGONY!!!!!!!

Can''t wait....!!!

It''s here! It''s here! Now I have to take pictures. I''ll start a new thread over at "Show Me the Ring".

YAY...I was wondering if it came yet!!

My jerky husband isn''t letting me have the ring yet. I made the mistake of giving it to him so now he says he is going to make me suffer first. As if I didn''t suffer having to wait FOUR weeks for it to be made?

I am sure he will give it to me tonight, so I should be able to take pictures tomorrow. If he doesn''t give it to me tonight I will go TAKE it tomorrow morning since he won''t hide it. He wouldn''t expect me to take it from his den.
