while looking at bands, i had the chance to look at my e-ring close up...it was so dirty! how do you girls keep yours clean without having to visit jewelers all the time?

Bought an ultrasonic cleaner at sharper image.

2 drops of dawn dish soap, 2 capfuls of mr. clean, and warm water.

Run for two cycles - rinse and dry.

I bought the GemOro Sparkle Spa. I love it. I also use a drop of Dawn and warm water and my ring comes out great. If I go too long inbetween cleanings, I''ll also use a soft toothbrush before and after I put it in the Sparkle Spa.

I use it so often that FI has come up with a little song about my Sparkle Spa.

For those of us without an UltraSonic or other machine, my jeweler recommended putting a little Windex and a drop of dishwashing liquid in a bowl and microwaving until very warm. Then dip your diamonds in for a bath. I have a platinum and diamond only ring -- no colored gemstones. When I do this, the platinum just glows and the diamonds get extremely fiery.

Do not use this method on white gold as the ammonia in Windex is not good for the plating.

I find that just soaking the ring in a small bowl of hot water with dishwashing liquid for a bit and then brushing between the prongs with a soft brissel toothbrush works really well! I just use hot water out of the tap. Then rinse in cold water and dry with a clean towel.

Simple, easy, cheap, and effective!

FI bought me a Sharper Image ultrasonic cleaner. I am not convinced it''s the best one out there, but it was pretty much free after his Discover card rebates, and it does a better job than when i just use jewelry cleaner and a brush.

I don''t think anything works as good as the jeweler, but my SI cleaner does pretty good!

This is what I do. I use tap water and a baby toothbrush to clean my ring, then I rinse and dry with a lint-free cloth. I''m not sure if one of the thread that musey posted included it, but John (from Whiteflash) e-mailed me recommendations for cleaning rings. If it''s not in one of those threads, I can post it again.

I got mine with discover rewards too! I think the difference between cleaning it yourself and cleaning it at the jewelers is that some jewelers use an ultrasonic and then steam. Now that''s how to get your ring clean

I bought a baby toothbrush (aka extra soft) and i boil a cup of water--add in a few drops of dish soap, let the ring soak and then gently scrub. Finally, rinse well.

I have pave on my ring so an ultrasonic was not recommened by Michael B (the designer)

I was thinking about this today. Great tips.

Do most of you take off your rings to bathe, clean etc.?

Yes - I take if off before getting in the shower. I''d hate to have it slip loose with soapy hands and drop into the tub.

I started with the dish soap and the baby toothbrush... then one day at work I realized how sparkley my ring was after I washed my client''s hair with Bumble and Bumble''s Sunday shampoo (like a deep cleaning shampoo)... I''ve been using a drop of that with warm water ever since. I know that in a pinch you can use dish soap to strip your hair, so I''d think shampoo for my ring should be okay too, I hope!!!
