How do you know if you have big ones or small ones?

I have been wondering about this for a while

I am trying to figure out how to determine my lobe size to pick something sparkly for FI to give me for xmas. How is the best way to judge?

I don''t know. The only thing that pops into my mind is accosting others by grabbing them by the ear and measuring?

I guess I just use common sense? Look at your ears. If you think, ew! Those lobes are huge! Then they are on the larger side.

If you think "what lobes?" they are on the smaller side.

If you have no thoughts, they are just right.

I was reading the begining of the thread and just ready to reply when I read the rest of the thread and this dare.

I mean this in the nicest way possible. Your lobes are not small. I don''t think they''re large either, but they''re definately not small. I guess that means that they''re "normal" whatever that is. However, if you need "large" lobes to convince a significant other to get your larger stones then I''ll happily delete my current reply so that I can aid you in getting larger stones!

I think you have dainty lobes. They appear smaller than mine and I refuse to believe I have big ones

and I''m sure you could handle .50 to .75 on them there lobes sweetie. I started with .50 each and traded them up to .75 each a couple of months ago. Here''s a pic of the biggies (the studs not my lobes

I agree, your lobes are normal, not small or big. Mine are big.

And they twist out.

I can''t wear hoops, they turn sideways. Studs face outwards. My oldest daughter has normal ears like you, she can wear 2 pairs well. My youngest daughter (17) has small elfin ears and can really only support single holes.

I agree re: normal lobes.

I was blessed with very small lobes. My husband calls my ears ''elf ears''. Thank GOD something bauble related is tiny on me .... it makes for cheaper earrings ...now if only my size 6 finger was a 2, I''d be in heaven!

Ok, so went to the local shop and purchase a pair 5mm of CZ studs. Although my ACAs are 4.80mm I think serving as a reference point it works. They looked surprisingly substantial and I was extremely please with the size in my lobe. FI thinks it is comical that I am finding so much joy in this gift and he is now entertaining the thought of yearly upgrades.

LOL, woman, I told ya your lobes are fine (as DKS said, "perfect!") I didn''t think the 4''s would look small at all.

Yearly upgrades would be nice! I have to keep these for awhile, but may save what I would spend yearly on upgrades and do it on my 40th birthday. TGuy is also thrilled that he doesn''t have to deal with my birthday present. I am all about making it easy for him if he wants to buy me diamonds. Although I think he perplexes him that his very down to earth wife seems to have a fascination for bling! These are also a finders fee for helping him find what is turning out to be his dream job, so I consider them well deserved.

The .41s well look PERFECT on you! The ACAs I purchased are the same size (and we have the same lobes

) and I find that size excellent for daily wear.
