Our wedding is like a destination wedding for about half the guests and we sent out save the dates at the end of 2009. I honestly think only family members have made hotel and travel arrangements... our friend guests will probably not do anything until they receive the actual formal invitation.

So should we send out invites more than 8 weeks in advance? Some places says mail them 12 weeks in advance. I read all sorts of things online when it comes to weddings that require air travel.

I''m not having a DW, but it''s not in either of our hometowns. For most guests, it will be over an hour drive away. I''m sending mine out around 9 or 10 weeks in advance.

Man, you guys are early! Most people are traveling to our wedding (it''s where we live but 95 % of our guests are out of town). We sent out save the dates already and we''re sending out official invites around 8 weeks ahead.

A lot of the wedding websites say 3 months out. However, I''ve heard from many people that 2 months out is enough. So I''m thinking we might split the difference and send them out 10 weeks before the wedding. We have a lot of out of towners.

I am aiming for 3 months, but I put my RSVP date 1 month before the wedding because I need a final head count 2 weeks before the wedding.

I''m aiming for 2 months out. I''ve heard if you send them too early, you don''t really get responses earlier as you might think you would. If it is too early, people might not be decided if they''re able to come,if they can afford it, if traveling, pricing of accommodations/airfare, etc. So when they get sent out way early, people are more likely to sit on it and wait, which defeats the purpose of getting them out earlier in the first place! I know I have NEVER received a wedding invite more than 2 months before the wedding, and I''d say most have been about 6 weeks before the wedding.

I am aiming for 6-8 wks beforehand :)

I mailed mine about 9 weeks before the wedding. RSVP date is Monday, and we still haven''t heard from 25% of people.

Our reply date is 6/19, so we''re sending them out probably 5/1. FI and I are traveling at the 6 week pre-reply by date, so we''re bumping the send date up by a week.

Our wedding involves a weekend in another country over the summer holidays, so we are sending them out 3 months in advance.

Our wedding was a DW for most of our guests (it was about a 2 hour+ drive for many people, and we got married in a resort town). I think we sent our invitations out about 8 weeks or so ahead of time. We did sent out save the date cards also, so our guests had a heads-up.
