How fixable is this setting?

My guess is that it's fixable with a laser welder. Quest took off the peg head off my own setting, and put on a new integrated head that sits flush with the shank, with a laser welder. You can't tell anything was done to it. It's amazing. The only question is cost, and the amount of work. If you're interested in an actual number, you could email the photo to a bench and ask for a quote.

fixable with torch, no laser required

Yep agree with VL - also it's showing serious signs of wear and tear. It will need a huge amount o rhodium plating and could do with a jeweller smoothing out the roughness in places. All do-able.

This is what I see as well. It makes me wonder what it looked like in its original state - I bet there was more detailing that has subsequently worn away.

Thanks so much, all ! I truly appreciate it. I, sort of, like it but it has a few issues as you say.

The prongs are definitely fixable but in order to "prettify" if, it will need serious work to restore it to its original condition. The setting is quite worn out and the details are faded. However, just rebuilding the prongs and a quick repolish should be easy work. The cost of redoing the prongs might cost more than the setting itself though so it is something to consider.

Thank you, dear Chrono. While I don't mind a setting looking a bit "aged" (sometimes) considering everyone's input - I'm skipping this one. It might be too expensive of a fix.

Thanks so very much.
