So Scott and I have decided to make a trip to St Augustine to look at venues the first day and meet for consultations with about four wedding planners the second day. Do you think that is spreading it a bit thin? I have no idea how long wedding consultations take, about an hour? For those of you who hired a Coordinator, do you remember how long your first meeting was? I’m going to try to see the venues on Saturday and meet with the Wedding planners on Sunday. I hope they will be open!

Thanks for your help!

Hi Kayakqueen,

I just went through the wedding planner process last week, during my time at home for the holidays. I only met with 2 planners, as I heard not to meet with more than three, b/c it can get a bit confusing. But, I think 4 should be ok.

As for timing, one planner took about 1 hour plus and the other took about 2 hours. I think it really depends on the level of detail the planner gets in to, as well as how much other stuff you are talking about, including invitations, favors, etc. I don''t know if your planners do it, but the longer meeting was longer mainly b/c the planner provided other services like invitations. We probably spent 30 minutes on that alone.

So, if you keep your questions short and the planner doesn''t go very heavy on details, I would say an hour + would be adequate per planner. However, if the planner offers additional services, plan on it taking longer.

Good luck and let us know how it goes!

Ditto. I would say on average our meetings took about an hour, but plan extra time if they offer additional services.
